He is/was gonna be Oklahoma’s starting QB, and probably badass

What’s the rule here? He can do both, right?

Goddamn I didn’t know he was that big of a prospect

Hell take that if he’s smart. Can’t see him playing on the NFL level

He can’t do both. And he can’t come back if he chooses baseball because his clock has already started

Why can’t he do both? Ricky Williams did both.

He had a top 3 round projection coming out of high school but made it clear he was going to a&m. Just goes to show you how much bigger football is. We heard more about him as a 2nd string QB than we did as a 1st round MLB prospect.

Dude's an incredible athlete but needs to take that baseball money, he isn't going top 10 in the NFL.

Can’t imagine the schedule or the pay would sit right with the NCAA

YA he can do both. Ricky Williams, Russell Wilson & Mewelde moore all played pro baseball & college football.

Ricky Williams was in AA with the Padres his summer before won the Heisman
There’s a rule that allows it.

Did they draft him that high so they can intentionally not sign him? Baseball draft is goofy.

WRONG. He can’t play college baseball anymore but if the team that drafted him
Is okay with it he can most definitely finish his college career at QB AND play baseball during the summer.

Seems weird that you can play pro ball but can’t accept a McDouble from your position coach

I don't believe the A's would have made this pick had they any doubt he wouldn't pick baseball over football. I am pretty sure he was called and consulted thoroughly before this pick was made.

It’s allowed as long as it’s differebt sports. I can’t cite the rule but is been happening for decades

Murray’s dad did both as well I believe. He was a Blue Jay when he played at aTm. Then he got paid to play at aTm. That’s how crazy the dad is though.

He is more than likely done at OK. He made it clear that it was going to take a huge signing bonus to sign him. No way the A’s draft him with the 9th overall for him not to sign or sign and still play baseball. He is probably going to get a higher bonus for his slot to quit football. All this was worked out before they made the selection.
