That dude should have walked off into the sunset at Utah.

A team basically throwing in the towel because the season has been derailed isn't a NIL based phenomenon. LSU has done it after this weekend many times the last two decades.

Watching Michigan football this year makes me wish I had a Time Machine so I could go back in time and participate in the mobs that drove Mormons out of New York and Illinois. Maybe get a good sucker punch on Shittingham’s great grandfather

Definition of a old washed up coach who didn’t know when to walk away from a game that left him behind

Dude has early dementia. He walked out on the field after game with his headset on

All the pagentry and tradition is dead. 150 years of history disappeared in about 5 years time.
The entire thing is transactional now, might as well be sex with a prostitute

Right but NFL players still play hard even when out of playoffs
These college kids should still be playing for their next portal paycheck

It doesn’t help that Ohio State is also derailed… knowing your rival is coming in ranked highly motivates guys, or at least it used to

Dude doesn’t care about Michigan’s rivalries and traditions which they live by up there. This was one of the biggest head scratching hires in a while. It’s like inverse Brian Kelly to LSU

Whittingham is a damn good coach but he should have never taken the Michigan job. It's going to take a long time to cleanup Michigan after years of DEI hirings and thugs trashed and burned the program into the ground.

One day schools will stop making the obvious mistake of hiring old coaches who have one foot in retirement already

I hate to break it to you, but it started LONG before the last 5 years. And it is YOUR fault (not you individually, fans in general)
40 years ago the fans demanded that every game be broadcast on TV. The market delivered it. And it came with increased money to the schools and conferences. Fans demanded their team win at any cost. The market responded by increasing coaching salaries because having decent success for a few years at a school wasn't good enough. The team had to be great every year. If not, fire the coach and go get the best...no matter the cost. The coaching market responded. As did the school's markets. YOU demanded to be in the stadium. You demanded great success. You demanded the best. So the market raised the prices to pay for it.
YOU did not like that voters decided the champion off the field. So the BCS was born. YOU kept demanding the best coaches, the best facilities, the best players, championship success...so the schools and conferences took steps to raise more money (conference realignment, new massive TV contracts, etc)
The BCS wasn't good enough. More teams should make the playoffs. So the CFP was born. The players, smartly, recognized the schools, conferences, coaches were making ever increasing MILLIONS of dollars with the players cut still being the same it was 50+ years ago. The players, understandably, wanted a share of the massive amounts they were helping generate.
YOU made all but a few bowl games generally irrelevant. YOU demanded donors pay millions for player, or to fire a HC 3 years into a massive contract then hire a new best ever HC for even MORE money...until he fails to win championships in 3 years. Then YOU will demand he be fired and the process starts all over again.
YOUR desire for sex was ever increasing and could not be satisfied. So the prostitute is just giving you what you want at the ever-increasing cost you are willing to pay.
Now you want to go back to "simpler times" in the "good ole days". That's not happening. And it is YOUR fault

I really hate to see that football isn’t very good in the Islamic State of Michigan.

Yep. I agree.
Multibillion dollar TV contracts, expensive tickets, multiple million dollar coaches and ADs, corporate ads all over the stadium (and sometimes on the field), and now NCAA is sucking that gambling dick.
But players getting paid is the issue
This ain’t DIII. Games around about school spirit or community. All about money bro

He asks "Are there any more Trophy Games in the last 3 games?".
Holy crap, they play Ohio State in 3 weeks in the biggest rivalry in college football.
How did Michigan hire a guy that is this clueless?
