the NCAA limiting practice time and face time for players with coaches changed a lot of CFB

it is smart to put a great athlete at QB in CFB and let him cook in a simple offense instead of a savvy guy that can get under center

the other factor for warner was playing in the arena league dramatically refned his reading and recognition skills.

College football coaches number one job is to win at the college level.

Now, there is some indirect relationship with also preparing players for the next level because proving that is often how you will get the best players to come play for you, but first and foremost is winning at the college level.

Who down voted this? Nothing truer has been said on this board. JB was better than his Coaches at LSU. You could definitely see his transition to the Pros.
The people with blinders on who think Daniels after taking 5 years of starting in college to finally get it will magically be a great pro.

The jump in playing QB in college to pros is even tougher than high school to college. He will need 3 years minimum to catch up in the NFL. He's a 3rd to 5th round pick realistically but a GM will lose their job grabbing him in the first round.

Offensive line play in college football is awful.

PFF has been pushing the whole "just be average" mantra for a while, because you can have 4 of the 5 best lineman in the world, but that bad lineman is going to just exposed time after time after time.

Every college player who wants to be a pro should have external coaches outside of the college. My son sure AF will…but i guess that goes without saying for kickers. My son was traveling to see a professional coach in 8th grade…sure as hell won’t stop just because he’ll play in the SEC.

You're the one bringing your son up, but do you realistically think he's going to go to practice, be a good student, and go for additional coaching on top of that?

Absolute idiot. Daniels was elite at every thing he did.

Jayden Daniels went from a middle round dude(if that?) to a top 3 pick, WTF more does Warner want?
It actually makes Warners point. The quality of college QBs is very poor.

This year he was better. But a lot of what LSU did wasn't terribly complex. Basically, it was a lot of "if you see Nabers or BTJ in a one on one matchup" put it up. Or, if you see the defense playing a zone figure out where you are going to go and get it in the vicinity of those two WRs. Obviously it wasn't THAT simple, but that was the general idea. And why not? That's what you SHOULD do when you have two 1st round caliber WRs who are better than 95% of the DBs they were facing. And it worked.

Daniels was extremely accurate this year and made great reads going through his progressions quickly, and running when necessary. Those criticisms were warranted in 2022, but anyone saying that about 2023 Daniels watched the wrong film.

And what separates Daniels and makes him so highly sought after is that he can actually make those throws. How many QBs at LSU could? We ALWAYS have several very good receivers that can win one on one a vast majority of the time, but if the QB can’t get them the ball in the most simplistic schemes, what difference does it make?

Ugh.

He's saying it's impossible to evaluate a college QB for the NFL and is a total crapshoot because NFL situations don't exist in the college game

It's unfortunate he had to use Jayden as an example so the ninnies here automatically thinks he's bagging LSU and the college game.

He had to watch hours of film to come to this conclusion?

So you want Gaston to bankroll this for poor kids or the school should be doing this?

I’m saying offering private coaching as a simple fix is stupid

That's Gastons plan and fix. Hell, if his kid doesn't make the pros with the amount I have to read about him on here, I'm going to personally be pissed.

The poor kids comment was out of left field

This isn’t the first time I’ve seen scouts and/or former players basically say Caleb Williams just isn’t that good.

Odds are moderate to high that the Bears are going to pick another bust.

I was trying to highlight that private coaching is very expensive and logistically challenging.

NFL people just need to stop crying
