Thank you for that. LeBron is comparable to Jordan. If he continues at this pace he may have a better career. Kobe... not so much. Which is not to say he couldn't compete in a 1-1 game, I would love to see it. But the fact is, Jordan was a much better TEAM basketball player.

I would say LeBron is comparable to Jordan in only MVPs and assists.. whereas Kobe is comparable to Jordan in Titles, points, rebounds, and assists.

I mean comparable in dominance over every other great player in the NBA. Kobe is a great player, but even at his peak never dominated in the way LeBron does.

and rebounds.

Lebron will most likely be ahead of both of them in every statistical category when he retires.
He will most likely get another MVP to tie MJ for 5 MVPS.
The hard part will be the titles.

There is a pretty good chance Lebron retires with..

30,000+ points

10,000+ rebounds

10,000+ assists

2,000+ steals

1,000+ blocks

which is absolutely insane

He just turned 29 man. If he plays until he is 36+ he can get all of those.

As of right now he has..

LeBron:
Points: 22,713
Rebounds: 5,976
Assists: 5,697
Steals: 1,421
Blocks: 666

All he has to do is average..

~21 pts per game the next 5 seasons to get 30,000 pts

~7 rebs per game the next 7 seasons

~7 assists per game the next 7 seasons

~1.5 steals per game the next 5 seasons

~0.7 blocks per game the 6 seasons

This is very rough math but the numbers are all basically correct.

Him having a few more years of averaging 25+ pts per game makes it easier for him get 30,000 pts and average lower points in the future.

The rebounds and assists are going to be hard to attain but doable.

I think as he gets older and offensive game wears down he will pass more often and rebound more often so I think it can stay around 7 reb\6 assist a game for 6+ years.

He can pretty easily get the steals and blocks to 2,000 and 1,000 I believe.

so... You think he'll retire around 32 or he'll just average 14 points a game or so starting next year?

Yea Durant is trying to take subtle shots at Lebron and remain the "nice guy" in the league.

I mean maybe. You never know what the future holds. Injuries.. Wearing down quicker than anticipated.. Unforeseen circumstances.. Hell I bet no one though MJ would quit the game for nearly 2 years in the prime of his career.

I'll put LeBron ahead of MJ and Kobe when he actually passes them.

just pointing out the obvious but the averages and numbers of games played are deliberately omitted from this list.

assuming lebron doesn't go full tracy mcgrady in three years his career numbers will end up looking much better (esp when it comes to rebounds, assists, and blocks) with this type of dumb presentation.

Lebron has never had injury problems. He will surpass both of them in assists and rebounds within the next two seasons (this season and one more full season should do the trick) and should be on the 30,000 pt range before he is even 33.

Obviously something crazy could happen and he could have a serious injury but as of right now he is on pace to pass them with ease

I think the only statistic he won't beat is MJs steals but it's still possible

Lebron has been in the league for 11 yrs and is already showing signs of slowing down. Players get older and numbers drop off, Lebron won't be immune to this. Their is no way with Lebron's style of play he will continue to perform at a high level for another 7 years. I give you the 30,000 pts, but the rest is just not going to happen.

I'm not a big fan of this type of number crunching because it values longevity over excellence but let's go ahead with it as an exercise. Assume Lebron plays four more years and averages a little below what he's done recently.

1800 points/year - 7200 points
550 rebounds/year - 2200 rebounds
500 assists/year - 2000 assists
120 steals/year - 480 steals
50 blocks/year - 200 blocks

so in four years we'd probably have something like:

MJ:
Titles: 6
MVPs: 5
Points: 32,292
Rebounds: 6,672
Assists: 5,663
Steals: 2,514
Blocks: 893

Kobe:
Titles: 5
MVPs: 1
Points: 31,700
Rebounds: 6,601
Assists: 5,925
Steals: 1,835
Blocks: 620

LeBron:
Titles: 2+?
MVPs: 4+?
Points: 22,713 + 7200 ~ 30,000
Rebounds: 5,976 + 2,200 ~ 8,200
Assists: 5,697 + 2,000 ~ 7,700
Steals: 1,421 + 480 ~ 1,900
Blocks: 666 + 200 ~ 860

If he stays healthy those numbers are probably conservative. He might well already be sitting on 32,000 points. His field goal percentage would likely also be notably more efficient than either Jordan or Kobe (seeing as this year is his best ever year with respect to field goal percentage and he's big and strong enough to play down low as he ages and slows)

Please explain? He is still averaging 27/7/7 per game pretty much and is doing it while hitting 57% of his shots.

He has consistently gotten BETTER every year (this being his best from a shooting standpoint).

He will slow down and his body will deteriorate, but he is in the middle of his prime right now and has not shown any type of decline in his game yet.

He has most certainly shown signs of decline. People write it off as him simply coasting, but its a energy issue. It takes an ENORMOUS amount of energy to play the way Lebron does which takes a toll. His defense has already declined significantly. He is able to defend in spurts but takes plays off to conserve energy. The last two weeks of the season is a testament to what im saying, the man is running low on the gas meter. This will become more and more of an issue as his career progresses. People make the mistake of looking at his age, but don't consider the mileage he has on his body.

He also has a broken nose which makes it hard to breath man. He also was unable to condition as much as he wanted this offseason due to getting married and taking the summer off.

Just last season he was biking miles everyday and even biking to the games. You are making huge assumptions and no facts.

I'm not saying he won't decline but he definitely hasn't declined this season and everyone knows the heat take games off from a defensive standpoint bc there is no reason to put that wear and tear on their body til playoff time.
