Today doesn’t feel real. Like, I can’t understand what’s happened because of the shock. Reading “Kobe Bryant is dead” doesn’t register at all. I can’t believe how such a tragedy could just happen on a day like any other. Just wow.

Fake news. He didn’t own the helicopter and no he won’t be held liable.

Godspeed the victims and families.
Apologies for the immaturity and insensitivity surrounding me.

Ive had a pit in my stomach all day thinking about Kobe. It’s just absolutely unreal that Lebron passed him in all-time scoring within 24 hours before Kobe’s death. I just watched Lebrons interview last night on passing Kobe and it was tough to watch knowing what we know now.

frick man, I keep having to take a deep breath to keep a tear from coming down. I grew up watching the transition from MJ to Kobe, but Kobe was the greatest that I ever saw on a nightly basis. (I was young when MJ won his last ring).

now imagine what it must be like if you spent all of your formative years in LA, smack dab during his run, and basically worshipping the ground he walked on

Yea. Wont forget today any time soon

I've thought about you and a few of my other friends (diehard Laker/Kobe fans) a lot today

I was watching the Pels game this evening, and we'd go on a run and I'd start to get excited, then my eyes would drift to the ticker and I'd go right back into that same "No way that's fricking real, come on" fog.

It hits me as a sports fan and the shock of it resonates with everybody, but I can't fathom how the people who grew up watching AND adoring him feel. To be honest, I don't think there's an equivalent figure in my personal sports fandom.

You said it perfectly. I used to stay up late at night as a kid during school nights watching the lakers on tnt or tbs on mute. It was so much fun watching the lakers journey with Kobe and Shaq finally winning championships. I felt like I knew him for 20 years playing ball even though he doesn’t know who I am. He was one of the last people I thought something like this would happen to. This was a punch in the gut for me and it won’t go away for awhile. May Kobe, his daughter, and the other 7 victims rest in peace.

This is the biggest/most impactful celebrity death in Los Angeles history- bigger than michael Jackson IMO.

One of the worst days overall in the history of LA.

The helicopter carrying Kobe Bryant and eight other passengers that crashed into a hillside in Southern California on Sunday was in a climbing left turn about 2,400 feet high before it dove to the ground, a person familiar with preliminary investigative information about the fatal crash told ESPN.

According to data from flight-tracking service Flightradar24, the helicopter was flying at about 160 knots (184 mph) and descending at a rate of more than 4,000 feet per minute when it crashed.

Further, the source told ESPN, who spoke only on the condition of anonymity, the pilot had, only moments before, contacted air traffic controllers to say that he had begun a climb to "go above the layer" of clouds present.
