you're talking about saving a small bit in salary (it's not like Tyrod is coming cheap. the Bills are not resigning him for a reason) for, as argued, equal wins (at best

quote:Which is better than resigning Cousins, provided he's getting $25mil+
if you don't re-sign Cousins you have to blow up the team and start all over
quote:A good coach molds his scheme around his talent, he doesn't try to force everyone to play to his offense. So again, even if you were correct, that's not an indictment of Tyrod, it's on the coaching if they can't make it work with an equal QB.
also this is ignoring the fact that Tyrod is almost assuredly not an option b/c he's not a fit for that offense

He's not going anywhere. He gets an automatic 44% raise by getting tagged again.

the assumption is you're trying to win a title
signing Tyrod means you're giving up on that and STILL paying a premium for a starting QB. what's the point?

tyrod is a FA. this argument doesn't apply

a good coach doesn't dramatically change his scheme to go chase a FA QB

if you assume all schemes and coaching philosophies mesh with all talent sets, which isn't very true
the OL, WRs, TEs, and RBs have been drafted and signed for this offense. you want to blow that up for 1/11 starters

no because the best case scenario for Tyrod is being about even with Cousins
Cousins has a much higher ceiling
due to turnover at WR and injuries, i don't think Cousins has reached his ceiling in Washington yet

I hope the Jags go for Cousins or Smith but Bortles may have done just enough to keep his job
Posted on 1/1/18 at 8:16 pm to GatorsGators
they did do work with Bortles and he steadily improved over the year. having consistency and trust may do wonders for him

Can you provide some evidence showing that Taylor is as good as Cousins?

Tyrod was better this season. Cousins was better in 2016. Tyrod was ranked better in 2015.
They're obviously different in skill sets, but in terms of tiers, they're about the same, in that fringe top 10. No one is clearly better than the other guy.

So Cousins is considering Cleveland
Jacksonville might keep their Blake after he led them to the AFC championship game.

At this point the only other viable option is the Broncos. I expect him & the Skins to reach a deal.

Cousins is Seriously Considering Browns
The Cleveland Browns have $127 mill in cap space. They can match ANY offer and then some that ANY team offers Cousins. The Browns can also go after other high profile players with lucrative offers. Add in the fact that the Browns also have 6 of the top 60 picks and the Browns are going to be players in FA. Now its up to the new GM and Staff to present a vision to these FA. But again, the Browns ARE going to be involved in the Cousins, Smith and Keenum bidding!!

Skins put the transition tag on him and then do a deal with the Browns

I’d guess Cleveland will have to do a lot more than match offers and make promises. Team sucks, city sucks and weather sucks they gonna have to overpay

The Browns don't have to make a deal. The way the transition tag works is that the Browns can match any offer Washington makes.

And the Browns CAN over pay for these players. That's the position the Browns are in. The Browns have a TON of salary cap space

Yeah that’s what my Cleveland fans have been talking about since around week 10 lol

Ever been to Cleveland in the summer?

Like Washington DC is that much better? Homelessness leads the country, DC Swamp, weather sucks there too and owner, coach and team suck too. Don't act like DC is some utopia.
