Yep. College players egos are nothing compared to once they get their money and status of being “in the league.”

Honestly, attention spans are short for everyone. It makes sense to implement a break in between

Don't players already run the show for the most part?

You've had "player friendly" coaches have success in the league beforehand. You don't have to have the I'm a hardass 24/7 mentality to gain respect or have success in the league.

Basically the anti-Saban, who’s in charge but prefers to walk over the players.

Not worried as much about players respecting him as much as I am to see how committed he really is as a coach. NFL dudes are wired different, end up working at the office for like 15 hours a day and shite. Not sure if Kliff is really about that life given how much he likes the off field activities.

We’ll see. People will lose respect for him if he’s not trying to outwork everyone in the league.

I don't mean just the cellphone part, he just seems like a guy who will be too much of a friend to the players.

Any business meeting that goes past an hour and half or so without a break is asking for distractions anyways
.

People usually bring their phones into business meetings. They don’t need a special break to access it.

The difference is football players work only a few hours a day, for a few months a year. Meetings and the film room are work. Business meetings are often a waste of time, and those in the meetings have other job responsibilities outside of those meetings.

I’m not going to criticize phone breaks, but I think it’s sad players can’t take a break from the world and focus on their job.

Just saw the interview. It didn't seem like he was inventing "cellphone breaks" for these guys.

Came off as him talking about giving players breaks in long meetings so they could refocus. Then he joked that he can see their hands shaking and fidgeting in long meetings because these kids love their phones so much.

Part of me thinks that if you're in the NFL it's time for you to be a professional. Getting a social media break is hilarious

The other part thinks that this is probably not a bad idea in terms of getting players to absorb and retain information. It's also a sign of how shitty things have become in our society

That’s why you don’t draft players with ADD

If Kingsbury had called them "breaks" instead of "cellphone breaks" no one would care.

Exactly.

Gotta love baws disregarding decades of research because they like to feel superior. Like they prefer a less effective method of learning because it was harder and more tedious and therefore "you ain't weak".

Meanwhile they have probably been less successful than they could because they don't know how to best utilize their brains.

I would use 20 min study increments with mini 5 minute breaks all the time. Hell I currently have some sort of media playing while I work because I find that I'm more productive for longer if I only focus like 85%

Most people's brains can only absorb so much information in a given amount of time. After about 45 minutes most people are zoning out, falling asleep, or checking the time every 5 seconds. Especially if it's death by powerpoint.

These aren't college kids. These are grown arse men making millions. They don't need cell phone breaks. Dude's too soft. He's going to get run over by players in this league. I'll give him a second and a half.
