Right? I believed him less and less the more screen time he received.

I see supaT addresses it earlier.

He was desperate for attention. He was excited to have a camera in front of him and i felt listening to him that he was being dishonest. About what specifically? I don’t know

Finally the gay QB and his dad was very forced. The dad seemed like an actor reading from a group therapy script, didn't seem genuine at all. The son/QB came across as attention whorish and needy for some sort of validation.

the dad comes off even worse...both just seemed phony. I don't know, he and aaron may have done butt stuff but he didn't really convince me of that at all.

the gay Patriots OL added nothing to the story either, seemed pretty pointless

Neither did borland. They’re inclusion is there to imply aaron hernandez is a victim of CTE and homophobia

I couldn’t stand him. Especially the bit about how if drugs were legal hernandez would have been a good boy.

if aaron could have just gone to the store to buy weed he wouldn't have had to hang out with shitty people to get it.....because its not like he grew up hanging around shitty people his entire life or anything.

the surveillance video of his fiance clearly getting rid of the murder weapon though

That and it ignores that drug use certainly didn’t do him any favors

But i guess you can’t tell people that drugs are bad. I could not stand that guy. Marijuana is good kids because, um, systemic racism or something

I agree with McCourty here

quote:

McCourty also had complaints about the documentary itself, saying the people interviewed for it couldn’t possibly paint an accurate picture of Hernandez’s mental state. The film featured new commentary from just one of the tight end’s Patriots teammates (cornerback Leigh Bodden) and none of the players he played with at the University of Florida. “The documentary’s called, like, ‘Getting Into the Mind of Aaron Hernandez.’ How?” McCourty said. “You interview (former Patriots offensive lineman Ryan O’Callaghan), who didn’t know him. You interview Leigh Bodden, who kind of played with him but was on IR. Jermaine Wiggins didn’t play with him. (Chris Borland) from San Francisco, who retired early, linebacker, didn’t play with him. I don’t even think he was in the league until, like, two or three years after all of this happened. “And then you had a bunch of people from high school — from the way-back past. So it was like, all right, we got the high school. We got some of the early life. We already got that, though. We already knew that. There was no bridge. I just felt like the documentary had (an angle) like, ‘We want people to walk away with this.’

“I think good documentary, you watch and I feel like usually everyone walks away with something that they have thought from a documentary that’s just filled with information, stuff you didn’t know. This, to me, was just like, ‘We want you to walk away and think that he was homosexual and he had CTE, and that’s why all of this happened.’ And to me, when I watch a documentary, I want to watch and then manifest and think of stuff on my own. I just felt like it was just directly at that the whole time.”

I wonder how much of that is a result of the people who actually were more familiar with Hernandez towards the end (like Patriots players and staff) being unwilling to appear in the documentary

They touched on something for a second that would’ve made for a better documentary and that was urban meyer’s florida teams. Thug U but with tebow as the wholesome face.

I liked how they showed hernandez giving the typical athlete speak interviews that everyone eats up (oh what a great young man, role model, so nice) juxtaposed how he talked on the phone and the clear mental retardation.

People think they get a glimpse of the real person on those segments...couldn’t be further from the truth

I just watched the last hour or so and I was struck by how asinine of a comment this was as well. I would have thought someone would have cut that part. Of all the angles they addressed , “marijuana legalization” was definitely the biggest stretch.

I guess a big problem with getting an accurate picture of Hernandez's mental state is that he isolated himself from teammates. They didn't really know him that well. He only hung out with the drug dealing, gun-running types.
