I don't get the lol at the clippers. Those teams were loaded.

Draymond, Klay and Curry weren’t some unstoppable force. They won a single title before Durant went there. Lost 4-2 to the cavs in their other finals.

They won a title, then had the best record in NBA history and lost in an incredibly tight game 7 .

They then won again 5 years later in the only season since then where Steph/Klay/Draymond were healthy. Outside of Lebron/Kyrie/KLove, no one stopped the healthy warriors during their run. They lost to the raptors once they lost both KD and Klay.

Throughout Durant's career, nearly every team that won a title had multiple super stars. The 2011 mavs and the 2019 raptors (Even though they had Kawhi, OG, and Siakam) were the only ones that didn't.

He’s a wildly gifted scorer in an era where physical defense simply wasn’t allowed.
He's also in an era of the league where players can actually be doubled, something he has seen thrown his way his entire career. I know everyone wants to pretend that hand checking meant guys could just shove you out of bounds at a whim, but that's not the reality.

What does physical defense do to a 7 foot 2 guard with a 35 inch vertical ? Nothing. It wouldn't have changed a thing.

He is absolutely a top 25 player of all time.

I'm not even a huge KD fan, but please list the 25 better.

Jordan
Lebron
Shaq
Duncan
Wilt
Kareem
Bird
Magic
Jokic
Russell
Malone (?)
Hakeem (?)
Steph (?)

Only ones I could even see an argument, and that's 14 guys.

The clippers never did anything of significance with that group.

They won a single title before acquiring Durant, and blew a 3-1 lead in the finals to a huge underdog. In the 3 years that preceded their title, when Durant could have made a run, they were the 6 seed or not in the playoffs.

The year they won it, they only swept the opening round, lost multiple games in 2 series, and OKC was playing without Durant for 75% of the season. They didn’t even make the playoffs.

He’d have probably won a lot less than he did, which wasn’t much to begin with. Guy was a stat stuffer who couldn’t win being “the guy” without joining the undisputed greatest shooter to ever live, another top 5 shooter in his prime, and the most dirty thug player role player.

I’m not acting like Durant isn’t great. In fact, his greatness is what makes his persona so pathetic.

Yes, once their run started, they only lost to a team with 3 hall of famers and a top 2 player of all time, after having the best record in the history of the sport

Then we're kind of on the same page.

He's an a-hole, but I think his career deserves some context. Like the other guy in this thread saying he isn't a top 25 player all time is just retarded.

Again, this wasn’t some dynasty while Durant was alone. They won once, did nothing before that—they were sub .500 the year Durant had OKC as the #1 seed—then blew a 3-1 title to a massive underdog after their legendary season was saved by Durants fragility.

That season 2012-13 OKC team was #1, they got stomped by Memphis in 5 games, with Durant being bitch slapped by old arse tayshaun prince to the tune of 5/21 from the field in the elimination game.

Durant had that legendary GSW squad on the ropes and wasn’t enough of a dog to put the final bite on them.

Again, not saying they were turds, but they weren’t some unbeatable dynasty while Durant was in OKC.

I don’t hate KD, he’s a big baby but is he wrong in a lot of those? lol I don’t see many where he’s wrong

He’s spot on for Sengun, CP3, Kerr, Jabari, Suns, Curry, etc

Kevin Durant, might not be a GOAT in sense of the elite elites…but offensively this dude for 10-12 years was a top 3 nba scorer. He is an absolutely incredible player and a first ballot never a doubt HOFer

There's this guy named Micheal Jordan that would disagree. Never been a better pure scorer than MJ. And he did a large majority of his scoring inside the 3pt line. Easily the best mid range scorer, driving scorer and likely top 10 post scorer, if not higher. 3s weren't even necessary but he could hit those as well if need be. All against physical, man defense. Durant is an all time great no doubt but let's not be hyperbolic.

Durant has a higher career

FG%
FT%
2P%
3P%
TS%
eFG%

quote:

All against physical, man defense.

Durant has faced this AND partial zones, which would have dramatically affected Jordan
