I believe Clark Hunt/Kansas City Chiefs want the whole property that Arrowhead and Kaufman Stadium occupy. Chiefs want to take the property and develop it into a year round destination.

That is accurate. John Sherman is moving the stadium downtown because baseball belongs downtown plus it gives the ownership group a real estate play to develop an entire district around it.

The Chiefs will take over the space vacated by Kauffman and develop it into a larger game day entertainment experience and probably attempt their own real estate development surrounding Arrowhead as well.

People can piss and moan about taxes and perfectly fine stadiums and blah blah all they want to, but this is what is happening. It’s not a matter of if, but when.

The word “rendering” always sounds funny to me.

It's an ordinary stadium other than the fountains. With a lifeless atmosphere with a viewpoint straight into an interstate. Surrounded by a giant parking lot. With no space for an entertainment district that will significantly boost revenue. A new stadium will solve all of that.

Missouri always gets shafted too. Pay for the stadiums, arenas the airport while the wealthy Johnson County folks drive on over to enjoy.

We don't live in a perfect world. The vast majority of owners aren't going to pay for the whole project themselves.

Great summary.

We can only hope they misappropriate some of the funds to spend on some decent players.

I'm a fan of Kauffman myself but I haven't been there in years.

Would that building past the outfield be owned by the team?

Royals finalize where they want it. It's going to be built right next to T Mobile Center downtown.

I love kauffman so this doesnt do much for me. I really wish they would just invest in building up the area around truman. Thats the only issue. There's not shite to do there.

I just don't get how teams/cities can justify that cost for a baseball stadium. Football stadiums, maybe, but there are limitations to what you can do and what events you can host with a baseball stadium.

Ballpark = 81 home baseball games + concerts + occasional other event like the NHL Winter Classic.

NFL stadium = 8 or 9 regular season games + one or two preseason games + concerts + occasional other event like the NHL Winter Classic.

Spending on ballpark seems more reasonable to me.

Still don't see how they're going to have enough adequate parking.
