Chalmette has some decent skill players. They lack beef on the lines (although that is improving) and as a team they lack discipline.,thise two things are holding them back.

Got a senior QB returning, that’s always a plus… we’ll be very motivated… we went from our first quarterfinal in 57 years to missing the playoffs for the first time in 11

This is very true….. Chalmette should just play their JV team. Maybe they can win that

My BIL kids go to MRA. I'm originally from BR but live in South Ms now. I didn't know much about MS football but going to watch my nephew play at MRA opened my eyes. They are impressive.

Thank you!

Which goes back to my “recruiting “ comment….

I know personally bc I had coaches from other Catholic and Zachary approach me about my son.

Owns know Denham has brought in some Br kids the last few years and you see what that has done to their basketball program… but that’s not the norm for LP/AP

No , they tried to get away from them for FAIR competition, as Zachary and Catholic actively recruit kids, even though Zachary is non-select.

The LP has first day enrollment selection for freshman incoming students. Do you think they aren’t doing the same recruiting as Zachary and Catholic.?

Him and our WRs need a “summer of 10,000 passes” as he had many great throws that were dropped.

I would hope so…

Pretty sure they don’t. You would have to move in 8th grade to be eligible somewhere out of your district.

Had a friend of my sons do this a year or so ago… transferred in parish the 2nd half of 8th grade, and wasn’t eligible to play varsity until 2nd semester of 9th grade

And no, they aren’t recruiting to any level comparable!

Catholic went and got 2 8th graders that played big varsity minutes for so lab in bball last year…. Not sure how attendance zones and rules are for select schools work… but no clue how they are eligible….

They do have choice and their eligibility requirements are the same as Catholic. You either have to go their in 8th or live in the school zone.

quote:

To apply for school choice in Livingston Parish for a freshman, you must complete the online application during the designated window (typically in the spring) and submit required documents like proof of residency and your child's previous report card. The application is available on the LPSS website and you will need to provide a detailed explanation of your situation. Ensure your child is enrolled in one of the eligible schools before applying

No, they don’t.

What you posted is to attend school, not be eligible for sports.(which is what I thought was the discussion)

So yes, you can technically go to any school, but have to sit out a year playing sports. Who the hell wants to miss 25% of their high school career?!?

I submitted before finishing. To be eligible it’s the same. Either 8th grade or attendance zone.

Correct.

Which kind of kills recruiting…. You have to get them to transfer middle schools to be eligible, or move.

And they types of kids schools recruit, or they makes a difference, are playing varsity their freshman year- and not going to miss a year.

(1st hand experience lol)

So what keeps them in nonselect?

I don’t think missing the freshmen year of varsity competition is much of a deterrent when at a school where few kids play significant roles on varsity teams as freshmen

They choose poorly if they went to catholic solely bc of basketball.

Very few and I mean maybe one freshman a year plays at Catholic football. Many of the ones recently were in the feeder system anyway.

There’s not many starters at Catholic that didn’t go through their feeders.. the two biggest recruits this year both went to feeder schools since grade school

What is that?

You must not be familiar with this incoming 9th graders…. They are stacked buddy! Got 2 that will getting varsity minutes this year, based on their play in the HOF game vs French settlement

Yea im not talking football- almost impossible for a freshman to play on a quality team at that level

I admittedly don’t follow their basketball since my oldest son’s friends graduated. They were the first I believe CHS basketball champions. Great team.
