I'm sure most people think Karr wins easily due to reputation but I think this is going to be a very good game. Karr has the advantage with a few better athletes but Lakeshore will have the advantage in coaching. Don't be surprised if this is a tight game or Lakeshore winning it.

Write-up on Dandy's:

In 4-A, No. 1 Edna Karr is set to take on No. 2 Lakeshore. Karr defeated district rival Warren Easton last week 20-12. The defending state champion Cougars make the short trip to the Super Dome for the seventh time in just the last eight years in search of their fourth state championship in school history. The Lakeshore Titans head to the Dome for the first time in school history after cruising to a 33-0 victory over No. 11 Rayne. Lakeshore’s dominant defense hasn’t been tested much all year running away from its competition to an undefeated season. Karr is a different kind of animal, however, with athletes sprinkled all over the field. (12/9, 3:30 PM)

I'm not too familiar with Karr this season but was very impressed by Lakeshore's 33-0 victory over Rayne. The first time Rayne had been shutout. Their lowest output before then had been 20 in a loss to Teurlings (sp?) Catholic.

I was surprised Lakeshore shut Rayne out as well. I really think the game on Saturday is going to be a good one with a lot of speed on the field.

I was made a believer of Lakeshore a few weeks back versus Neville. Neville was not it's usual self this year and wasn't as good. However, the Neville defense was still very stout all year and kept them in games. Lakeshore absolutely ripped up that defense. I believe they punted once that game. Neville could not stop them. No one has done that to Neville in the last decade or so.

Wow, I knew they shut-out Rayne. I just looked at their bracket and they have not played a close game the entire playoffs. They are at the very bottom on the right of the bracket.

Lakeshore hasn't had a close game all year in the regular season. All victories including the playoffs have been by 21 or more points I believe. They did lose the jamboree to Slidell but one of their coaches had a stroke in the first half and the kids just kind of fell apart after that.

I had never heard of them either. In the bracket you can click on the team and it gives you their information including their season schedule.

That's kinda funny y'all hadn't heard of Warren Easton. You can't miss it if you drive up Canal to Midcity from the CBD.

Good program. Probably the 3rd best program in public 4A over the past 5 years behind Karr & Neville. They made it to the dome a few years back. They are regularly deep in the playoffs, but usually run into Karr before the Dome.

Ah, have heard of Warren Easton. The playoff bracket just has them as Easton.

Makes sense now. It seemed weird because they do compete pretty well.

Who are Lakeshore’s coaches? Karr has been to the Dome 7 Out of 8 years. Great talent or not, you have to be able to manage the talent. I wouldn’t just arbitrarily say Lakeshore has better coaches.

Lakeshore has not seen a team that is remotely close to the caliber of Karr all year. They have benefited from a very weak regular season schedule and one of the most advantageous playoff draws in recent memory. That said, none of their games have been close, so it is not like they are struggling with inferior competition. To the contrary, they are dominating. It will be very interesting to see how this one plays out. Both of these teams are incredibly fun to watch.
