Hats off to Karr, they are an outstanding football team. Fast, physical, and well coached. I actually enjoyed watching them play even though I was there for Lakeshore.

Redeemer was the descendant of old Redemptorist High School on Constance and Josephine St. in the Irish Channel, uptown New Orleans.

When Redemptorist closed, they moved out to Gentilly, where Holy Cross now stands. They were the only co-ed Catholic high school in the City or southshore. They were a AA school (true AA, not with the multiplier) so had little success with football. They fielded competitive basketball and baseball teams (coached by Skeeter Theard).

Enrollment dwindled in the mid 1980s and they merged with Seton Academy which was in the old Sacred Heart School on Canal Street, becoming "Redeemer Seton" until it closed.

Game was not as close as the final score. Karr had turnovers early but settled and played their game. Karr benefits from an open enrollment system for high school students in Orleans and have done well with that. Once they built a reputation of winning then it increased their ability to attract quality students and athletes. They are solid academically and excel athletically.

Lakeshore is a nice team with some quality athletes but they also benefited from a very weak schedule and Class 4A being really down this year. Titans lose majority of starters to graduation and I think they will struggle in 2018. Still, it was a great run for the young school and program.
