Did he ever take a stand and stop taking the Brown’s money?

Well he did retire despite still playing at an all-pro level.

He could have easily stuck around another 5 years and made another $50 million or so

Have zero sympathy for him. Her could've gone elsewhere multiple times in his career but he stayed for the money.

If I remember correctly he is the guy that went fishing instead of attending his draft when he was pretty well locked in as a really high pick

Yeah where else could a pro bowl caliber player at a key position get paid?

Joe Thomas is interesting to me.

You know he loves football, wanted to be really good, and enjoyed it. Therefore, it added to his work ethic and it made him very consistent. The strong work ethic means he was/is competitive.

On the flip side, the dude was with the Browns and they lost.... a lot. How can you put so much effort into a competitive sport and not wanting to be a winner?

Sure he made a lot of money (~$110 million) and that obviously pacified him; but damn, I would feel like I am just missing something without at least a deep playoff run.

I think you are underestimating the 110 million part.

Not saying he didn't give it his all but maybe he liked not being under a lot of pressure to win all the time.

Some players would like to win but are more concerned with being loyal to a franchise, even when most franchises aren't loyal to players.

IMO, it would be an honor to be with one franchise for your entire career, win or lose.

Exactly. Look at how much shite Durant gets these days. He is now the standard meme for someone who is a front runner athlete.

Joe did his part to win and kept doing his part.

He’s not asking for sympathy, he’s just putting the team on blast so they put future players in better positions to win.
