I don't like the way that it turns out when the NCAA punishes programs, because it is usually the innocent that get left to deal with it. However, if this was a true cover up to protect the program, punishment maybe should be given down to make people realize that this is not permissible.

ETA: however, at this point I see no reason for the NCAA to be involved, and death penalty is a strong word and shouldn't be taken lightly in this case.

As a proud gay man, I take offense to this statement.

Sandusky is a sexual deviant. His sexual preference is completely besides the point.

I agree that whether it was young girls or young boys that were his target it would be equally heinous here.

I ultimately think a sports message board will decide this trial.

Paterno has not been charged and state prosecutors say he in not a target for future charges. Still, a swelling wave of columnists, bloggers, sports fans and newspapers editorials are calling for his immediate exit for failing to call the police when a graduate assistant — now identified as Mike McQueary — told him that Sandusky sexually assaulted a boy in 2002. McQueary is now the Nittany Lions' wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator.

Pretty well sums it up.

i have no problem with him being gay. I don't mean he's gay in a derogatory fashion..b ut he's not having sex with girls he's having sex with boys. that's what you would call a homosexual I would think.

this question was in no way meant as a reflection of homosexuality. It was simply a general wondering further into the mind set and patterns of someone so horrible.

I don't think his comment was something to take offense to either. He wasn't equating homosexuality with sexual deviancy (at least from what I can tell).

The questions that arise in a case like this aren't meant to offend, but to gain knowledge.

Not really. I think a new article on SI is saying he very well might be a target as more details come out about what he REALLY knew and when.

I don't know, i think those that target children deserve a whole different classification.

The details are definitely changing by the hour so it's possible but so far I think that was a good summation (and I don't follow any national coverage of this. Only local.)

JoePa is possibly staring down charges of perjury, obstruction of justice, and violating PA's Child Protective Services Law.

Paterno said "I wish I had done more". There goes his kids inheritance money, he's gonna get raped in a civil suit.

My GF watches that show, and that was exactly what she thought when I was telling her about this story. She says that show is loosely based on real events. I wonder if the writers knew of this?

I think JayPa already got his inheritance by being on JoePa's staff for years, as I doubt any other program would hire him.

As far as his other kid, Steve, he's a lawyer and has been stage-managing JoePa's appearances during this mess. His own incompetent counsel will be a major contributing factor to whatever happens to JoePa.

That's gonna be trouble for the fat one. It must take an army of Chinese kids make one of his shirts.

I just hope your kids if you have any or your family’s kids have better people around them who would do more to make sure a rapist is stopped then what you think is “acceptable”

Don't act like you know me

Trust me, with that thinking, I'm glad I don't and hope my kids don't depend on you to keep them safe. God forbid you do more than what is legally required.

What do you think a coach like Bear Bryant would have done in this case? I know that back in the day, reporters would hide stuff to protect the program
