You're arguing because you are some dip shite who read a Wikipedia link.

I provided you statutes from the Louisiana Revised Statutes...
God damn, you're an idiot.
ETA: I am an attorney in Louisiana... who knows how to look up statutes... and remembers the most basic shite from criminal law.

quote:Huh? It lists the definitions of Kansas and Louisiana, probably because they have unique aspects, but that doesn't mean the other states don't consider it a criminal offense.
according to your link it's a crime in 2 states.
quote:Well you seem to be wrong about a lot in these posts so I'm not going to trust that.
trust me

quote:Yeah but I only skipped like 2 classes all semester. And I was definitely awake that one time my professor talked about battery.
Ok
I'm an actual lawyer and started my career prosecuting assault cases.

Just looked up Oklahoma law. Turns out battery is a crime there, too.
ETA: And the use of force is justified in situations other than "death or serious bodily injury" there, as well.
You say you're a lawyer? And actually spent time prosecuting? You're getting some pretty basic shite completely wrong.

I'm no lawyer, but nothing you're saying makes much sense. But I welcome evidence to support your argument.

You must be a criminal justice major trying to cite law because you just gave the law and conducted no analysis. I'm not saying he was right, I'm just saying you can make a legal argument for him.
A reasonable person would believe a drunk person aggressively striking their face would cause severe bodily injury.
It would be considered reasonable force to land one solid punch inorder to stop an intoxicated belligerent from aggressively attacking your face.

Actually Louisiana's laws are based on civil law. The rest of the states use common law.

Universal Citation: 21 OK Stat § 21-642 (2015)

A battery is any willful and unlawful use of force or violence upon the person of another.

Even if one were to believe you as credible, you still took an immediate approach of aggression and insult. These tactics shouldn't be necessary if you actually had authority on your side. This approach makes me immediately suspicious.

I do know battery is a criminal offense, even if it's not a major one.

It's can be a tort and a crime, can't it?
Posted on 12/16/16 at 10:55 pm to ReauxlTide222
quote:There are things that fall under both (illegal immigration), so while I don't know if battery does, clearly one doesn't automatically exclude the other.
