Not the only 2 things I mentioned. Is it ok for a basrunner to yell I got it behind someone on a popup fly?Is a foreign substance on a ball, little jelly on the ball ok?

those things would be considered a physical impediment to the game. not appealing to an umpire's subjectivity.

What about sign stealing?

yes. okay. disguise your friggin' signs.

You got no problem with basketball players, soccer players, and QBs flopping to get the call either I guess.

I don't have to like something for me to say that it's not cheating.

as long as sports rules are dictated by subjective refereeing, this type of jockeying is going to be widespread

His only job is to get on base. End of story. Part of baseball and has been for a 100 plus yrs.

Ever see a guy in the outfield say no I didn't catch that ump?

What about when Matt Flynn faked his injury to save from burning a timeout a couple years ago?

Didn't everyone go batshit crazy applauding him?

you're mentally challenged if you don't see the difference between the jeter play and scenarios you are pointing out.

Auditory interference of a person making a person the catch. The base runner couldn't intentionally shield the infielder's eyes either.

nice, but is yelling "mine" against the rules to allow a umps subjectivity to even come into play?

or is it just against the unwritten rule book?

Apparently on some levels of play, it is actually overrulable by an ump, but not in the pros. I would imagine it's just against the code of etiquette, and that the pro's are a) used to it and b) will retaliate if done to them

quote:

Verbal interference
At some levels of play, verbal as well as physical hindrance can be called for interference. For example, if a runner or other member of the offense calls out "foul" on a fair ball or "mine" on a fly ball, he may cause the defense to react differently than they otherwise would have, resulting in an interference call. This is not called as interference in professional or higher amateur baseball.

i think it's pretty low for a guy who carries the class of jeter. just my opinion and it doesn't mean it's wrong or right.

I thought you could come to a conclusion on your own opinion on something as trivial as this.
