During a recent episode on the “All the Smoke” podcast, Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss was asked who the five most important Lakers of all time are.

The general initially listed Lakers champions Kobe Bryant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, LeBron James and Magic Johnson.

“You have to start with Kareem and Kobe and LeBron,” Buss said while conversing with hosts Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. “Magic. Yes of course, Magic. Magic might be No. 1.”

While Buss struggled with her fifth choice for the illustrious list, she was aided with the suggestion of Phil Jackson by Barnes.

“Does he count as a Laker?” Buss asked Barnes. “Then, Phil.”

Of course, the Lakers have numerous players who represented the franchise with honor, excellence and pride.

Some of the other notable legends include three-time champion Shaquille O’Neal, 1969 NBA Finals MVP Jerry West and 11-time All-Star Elgin Baylor.

The hate she has for West after he ditched them to build up the Clips is incredible

She had to say LeBron so he wouldn’t put out a hit on her through social media.

That’s what happens when you discuss sports with a woman. She couldn’t even name 5 Lakers without help. Then name a coach

No you have to start with West. Not just as a player of course but building 80s dynasty.

Then drafting Kobe, signing Shaq and Phil.

Dude gave half his life to the Lakers and was an integral part to almost 20 Finals appearances.

Does Phil count as a Laker? What a stupid fricking thing to say especially when she just said Lebron without hesitation.

frick lebron. He’s just a team jumper. I can’t stand that the son of a bitch ever wore the purple and gold

I don't think Lakers fans will remember him fondly. They better not put his jersey in the rafters. That's beneath the Lakers...well, at least Jerry's Lakers.

She also said that LeBron was as close to a "superhero" that she knows. No doubt she is considering his entire career in the NBA with that thought in mind. LeBron has had the biggest impact on the NBA of any single player I can think of. Unlike Jordan, who was so loyal to the man he couldn't get out a public opinion about the sun coming up, LeBron has always had the courage to express his feelings on a matter. And courage is often what it takes to be the minority and be heard from.

On the court, he has been that "superhero" since he came into the league. All the expectations in the world when he was the #1 pick at 18, but he was still a man among boys from his first season on. He is the rarest of combination of generational talent meets ridiculously high IQ to see and manipulate it all is a once in a lifetime package. Even now at 36, he is automatically the best player in the league every time he steps on the court. Amazing player, amazing person!

Dude it was a deal.

Read the history of how L.A. got Kobe. It was all West.

Good Lord, just sell the team already. You have no interest in it at this point.

Agree. The Lakers have 40 or so years of their existence centered around West's wants and needs. A very successful 40 years. He is the face of the Lakers whether she likes it or not.
