I’m declaring r&b and a decided r&b artist urban.

That doesn’t mean that they don’t get popular. Clearly they do.

I mean...he was.

Now you are arguing just to argue.

Because someone enters the pop charts doesn’t mean they make pop music.

And even if it does then if your point is “oh it’s just what’s popular” then why can’t we get some “country sounding” pop artist?

They sell as well or more than many of these acts hence they are more “pop” than them thus destroying your own argument that they are picking off of popularity

Country artists hit global charts just as well as Kendrick Lamar.

This stuff isn’t hard to look up.

Bad bunny doesn't mention trucks or beer or fishing or blue jeans nearly enough to play in MY AMERICAN super bowl.

Personally, I won't care either way. I just want to watch it burn.

So if he doesn't do something like that THIS time, that means their observations from the past are "overly emotional"? Interesting.

It's not even this. Country shifted to a pop-based structure in its music that really amplified with Garth Brooks. The structure of the music itself today is now pop, often created algorithmically.

At least the acts who would have a shot at the Halftime.

It's all pop, the "country" version just uses guitars and a twangy voice to mask it.

I said they were nostalgia farming for Millennials

And Shania already headlined a Halftime show

You don’t but apparently as many people do want to listen as they do Kendrick Lamar etc.

I’m talking chris Stapleton. Who has charted worldwide. Critically and commercially acclaimed.

Why has he not gotten a show?

You set up a premise and then claim you won't care if that premise doesn't come to fruition

Classic

Their reactions are emotional because they're emotional.

Has nothing to do with his actual performance. If you want proof I can give it easily: He hasn't even performed yet and the irrational melt is MASSIVE

Hence why I said I don’t expect to like every single halftime show.

I get that there is popular music that I don’t like.

It just seems like they never make any attempts to include me.

Like I said. I think there should be some consideration for rotating genres

What data are you basing this off of?

quote:

I’m talking chris Stapleton. Who has charted worldwide.

quote:

Chris Stapleton is a premier country artist on Spotify, boasting over 24 million monthly listeners

quote:

As of early February 2026, Bad Bunny has approximately 85 to 90 million monthly listeners on Spotify,

quote:

As of mid-February 2025, Kendrick Lamar hit a historic milestone, becoming the first rapper in Spotify history to surpass 100 million monthly listeners, peaking around 108.6 million.

To quote Kendrick Lamar (who I don't listen to)

quote:

They not like us

I actually understand enough Spanish to tell you yes, but that was just a shitpost. I think if people would stop melting down for long enough to look up the lyrics, they'd realize they have a lot more in common with Puerto Rican baws than they realize. They like drinking and hitting on women too

There's no data that's going to make these people happy, because this is an emotional backlash. Because ICE/immigration is such a big deal lately, they perceive it as a personal attack on them. If someone is up there being Hispanic and speaking Spanish, this must mean that you are supporting The Current Bad Thing (TM) and are therefore an enemy of what I support, The Current Good Thing (TM).

Billboard worldwide year end charts have country artists at similar numbers to Kendrick Lamar.

The point was that the genre is popular worldwide.

Of course Stapleton currently is down some because he hasn’t released an album in a few years. Of note that release charted highly in Australia uk Germany etc

I never said bad bunny isn’t popular.

I said I don’t expect to like every artist.

I just think it’s time that I and the millions upon millions worldwide who listen to that genre had some representation.

2020 and 2021 are the only ones in my memory that were actually worth a shite out of that list

The Weeknd's performance in 2021 was exceptional. It was just him onstage singing live. People forget that this was in the middle of the pandemic with heavy restrictions. 30,000 cardboard cutouts in the stands outnumbered actual fans as only 25,000 people were in attendance. 7500 of those were healthcare workers brought in for PR purposes. The Weeknd was one of only a few artists that did live performances during covid. He performed live at the MTV music awards, the AMAs and did VEVO performances.

I don’t give a shite about any of this.

I’m making a point that a massive worldwide genre has had only 1 show since 2000 (2003 Shania Twain) and only 2 total.
