Lots of glitz, bling, and a losing record.
Time to tell his players that quality football is a discipline and requires large measures of the same.

Mike Farrell Sports

quote:

When Little Wayne is leading you out of the locker room, when your sideline is filled up with Offset and every other rapper and every other celebrity you can think of, you wonder why your team is distracted," Whitlock said on Fearless with Jason Whitlock.  "You wonder why they lead the country in penalties, wonder why they have no focus, and there is no consistent effort."

quote:

In (creating this atmosphere), he took the essence of team discipline and threw it out of the proverbial window.

quote:

Whitlock continued and said that Deion couldn't teach the game because he was such a superior athlete. He cannot break down the fundamentals that are so far beneath the superstar such as he was.

quote:

Bowden had defensive coaches like Chuck Amato and Mickey Andrews on his staff when Deion was playing in Tallahassee, and they brought out the full potential that everyone saw in Deion and maximized his game, something that he cannot do for his own players.

[quote]He doesn't know how to share the details that allow someone less talented than himself, which is 99.999 of all football players produced," Whitlock said. "He doesn't know how to share with them or create an environment where they can grow and develop and become the best versions of themselves.

Wow. Probably to early to tell, seeing as this is Prime's first year at Colorado. Thoughts?

A lot of posters here dislike Whitlock, so they'll just shoot the messenger, but he's not totally wrong in his points.

CU does get penalized a ton, and Deion himself said he didn't care about culture, or if the players liked each other.

Whitlock is right in this instance, but I still think it's funny that he has completely carved a lane for himself as the "black media guy that calls out other black guys so that white guys can say they like a black media guy" role.

Makes sense. Will never forget watching the CU vs CSU game and a reporter asked him what adjustments he needed to make at half. He said something like, “we’ll address that in the locker room.” When she asked for specifics he looked completely lost and couldn’t answer. Even Ed O could make bullshite up.

Deion Sanders is a clown coach and at the morons on here that overreacted the first few weeks of the season proclaiming Deion as the future of college football.

He can recruit but it’s hard to see him working 60+ hrs a week and grinding like his counterparts. Mainstream media will never admit this, but he is getting exposed for the fraud that he is. The stunt that he pulled with Sean Lewis is going to destroy his already damaged reputation among other coaches as well. Good luck hiring competent assistants.

OTOH he goes against the white leftists agenda and they hate his guts. They are always saying things like he’s just trying to carve out a spot to the conservative audience but in reality he just speaks his mind with no regard to what white liberals think.

Whitlock is no different than the left leaning sports people who take on extreme views toward their political ideology. Also he’s fat.

Colorado was an irrelevant program last year whose on field product sucked. After one season, Prime has re-created massive interest in the program and he’s won 4X the amount of games. That’s it, that’s the story.

What remains to be seen is where he takes the Buffs from here. But to act like CU was in better position in any shape or form before Prime is insanity.

You’ll get the downvotes but this is spot on.

People can say all they want about Colorado’s “improvement”, but they were decent just a few years ago.

If Colorado doesn’t win one of their last two games, this season will be tied for their second worst conference record since joining the PAC 12. And tied for worst finish since 2014

Colorado has won 4 games or more 8 of the last 9 years. So I’d say he’s doing about the same as everyone before him at best. And the previous coach had a winning record in his first year.

So let me get this straight, when someone who is liberal says something liberal, they are bought and sold. But when someone who is conservative says something conservative, they are just speaking their mind?

Hate to break it to you, they are all bought and sold. I'm not saying Whitlock doesn't have some conservative idealogies, pretty much everyone does, but after his black ESPN website never got any backing, failed to materialize and he became an afterthought, he made the conscious effort to hitch his wagon to Clay Travis. While that didn't work out either, Whitlock definitely saw that there was a market for a black conservative in the media space and he has been playing that "Black Clay Travis" note for the past 5-6 years. And like Travis, I'm pretty sure he doesn't actually believe 45-65% of the stuff he says.
