Congrats on moral victories. The Browns franchise is a joke.

You mean this one where two players launch themselves and spear him in the head? Cause if so that's dirty as hell.
not at all
he was shoved into that hit from behind which changed his direction.
it was just bad luck that they all three ended up there at once.

Wait, you're an Ohioan Steelers fan?
Posted on 12/13/11 at 6:50 pm to KillerNut9
I know this is going to get turned around on me, but that's the lowest of the low.

Eh, I'm a Pirates fan too but I don't hear people give me shite for that.

I don't understand the whole argument that this is how it's always been done and its part of the game regarding these hits.
Those guys from the 70s and 80s were tough. They also walk around with brain damage now and have been increasingly looking to the NFLPA or the NFL to pay for their medical costs because they say the NFL did this to them and they should be compensated for it. It was a major part of the last CBA. That's alot of money for these old guys who are really messed up because they just didn't know how bad all these hits really were on their brains.
That being said, the NFL has a monetary interest in lowering the brain injuries, because they are on the hook for them. You keep calling out Goodell, but it would be anyone in that position. You can't just turn a blind eye to the effects of concussions anymore. Now the medical research is in.
So its just the way it has to go.
Now to Harrison specifically. If these aren't dirty shots, then why is he the only guy that consistently gets singled out? Why? BECAUSE HE HEADHUNTS. That's why. Do we really need him to paralyze someone before they finally throw the book at him?
It's ridiculous to say it's just part of the game when no one else is consistently making these types of hits.
To be honest I am shocked that some olineman hasn't chopped blocked his arse yet. I know I would. You headhunt my QB on purpose? Fine, I'm killing your season by taking out your right knee.
And yes I am a Saints fan and NO I would not be defending any Saints player that did this on purpose.

You want to stop concussions? Build better helmets.
But its not about concussions thats just what he fooled you in to believing. Helmet to helmet is no different thnn; the horse collar, the if your hand brushes the QBs helmet, or if you hit a QB in knees rules. Its all bullshite because sponsors want the NFL to be wholesome.

Other than the fact that helmet to helmet hits are dramatically more dangerous for a person's health than those other penalties you listed.

It is so easy for us to say that it was a blatant cheap shot because we see the instant replay views that aren't in realtime. Who is to say that even if he had wrapped up,that he wouldn't be in the same situation? I've seen flags thrown for much less this year that have kept drives alive and in my opinion, have some defenses playing soft. Isn't there something in the new CBA that limits the number of practices that are in full pads this year?

They are all creations by Roger Goodell and they have nothing to do with safety.

Ummm, no. It is a safety issue. Not just for the guy getting hit but the guy doing the hitting. At the rate Harrison is going, he's going to fracture his neck.
If it wasn't a safety issue they wouldn't have drastically changed the fit of helmets and face masks in the 90's. I was a trainer when they started using the new, tightly fitted helmets with the close fit at the base of the head to help prevent concussions. It wasn't that long ago that someone (I think Ga Tech) did a study showing that every hit in college has the same impact of a minor car accident. Ever since they've been trying to keep players from being vegetables by the age of 40.
So no it's not just some shite Goodell made up. And that's no defense of Goodell cause I hate the bastard.

Players sue NFL
So all these guys and their health issues along with any who haven't come forward yet are just creations of Roger Goodell?
Well then he's bad at creating things, because his "creations" are suing him.
The most retarded thing of all, is Harrison can be the way he is, defiant and all, yet if he breaks his neck, or walks away from the game with dementia, the attorneys will be right there to sue the league on his behalf.

Sounds to me like the players were suing about not getting better treatment. Not suing because they thought the sport need to be changed

If Harrison gets a one game suspension for hitting McCoy, then the Browns' coaches should receive multiple game suspensions for putting him back in the game.
