It's honestly amazing that coach's contracts do not have performance clauses. A coach can mail it in and still get paid tens of millions.
Pittman’s Arky deal kinda did

but then they fired him before allowinf it to reach the threshold where it could have made a difference

I’m wondering how these coaches contracts start to look like under the new model

Time to tell the Jimmy sextons of the world to frick off regarding these dumb arse 10 year contracts, it’s ridiculous.

How many coaches out there aren’t replaceable right now? Maybe 4-5? Even that is pushing it.

Hopefully this the last round of these stupid contracts

Yeah are there even that many ?

Kirby and Day but some could make the case that even with those two in the NIL era they’re replaceable as both schools will still acquire tons of talent

I’m more upset with the AP voters that had Penn St ranked #2 a couple weeks ago.

They'd get in trouble for collusion.

ADs need to just individually put no suck clauses, or when a coach demands something ridiculous, say "forget it" and hire a young up and comer.

AD's don't have any control over boosters who are determined to go out and get their guy and prove that they can't be outspent.

Hey hail to mich do you believe it now, if you want a sitting HC to leave their current jobs you get the big buyout. All these fans who blame SW for BKs buy out need to get a grip.

I know he has them as a top 10 team every year, but at some point losing almost every single big game home or away has to at least start a discussion on whether he is the answer.

That's where UK is stuck. ADs need to eliminate buyouts and bring back performance requirements.

Most big time contracts require a significant percentage of the remaining contract to be paid if terminated. That’s pretty standard.

Even dating back to les I always wondered why ADs would cave and give an extension when coaches would fake interest in another school.

Les flirting with Arkansas was laughable and they should have just called his bluff.

Yeah, I know.

...but market rate implies that others would be willing to pay that much for his services.
