re: Jameis is going to be a better qb prospect than luck

Jameis still has the same big, slow release that he did in HS. He can fix it,
Not sure he can...
He tore his ring finger when he was a kid and it affects the way he grips the football. He figured out the best throwing motion for him though.
Its just a matter of how that translates. Rivers has an odd throwing motion...but it works.
His release isnt Tebow or Leftwhich bad though.

Yeah I agree with that. And Rivers motion is a but unorthodox. But, Rivers motion / release is also among the fastest the NFL has ever seen. Thats the big thing with motion. Doesnt necessarily have to be a perfect looking motion, but the motion needs to be quick and with no wasted movement, and from the time you start the motion to when you release the ball needs to be extremely fast.
Winston still has a wind up / baseball motion, and its slow. Not as slow a Tebows or Leftwich, I agree. But its still slower than most of the starters in the NFL. Thats the 1 thing I would love to see Winston improve on this offseason. Get that motion quicker. Only problem is that hes playing baseball, which is where his motion comes from and takes away time for him to improve on his motion.

Luck was the highest graded prospect of all time. You think Winston will top that? Not a chance. The dude can barely articulate a sentence properly, and when be does say something you can understand, he doesn't impress me (Luck is very, very above average when it comes to intelligence). His physical ability is not bad but the NCG proved that his regular season stats and hype were inflated by terrible competition. FSU is one the most talented teams in the country at a lot of positions - a lot of guys would succeed in that situation. Obviously his throwing motion needs work but that is very fixable.
Overall he looks like a good prospect and he will probably get a shitload of (mostly unnecessary) hype and (completely unwarranted) comparisons to Luck, Manning, Elway, etc, when they were coming out. He could be good. I feel like a lot of whether a QB is successful in the NFL has to do with where he lands and the coaches he ends up with.
I have no bias. I have nothing against FlSt, black QBs, or anything like that. I just need a bigger sample size from the guy before I anoint him.

Winston reminds me of EJ Manuel actually. He's good, but not an all time great prospect. Just because you excel early as a FR doesn't mean you are an all time great.

How many college QBs would have been the #1 pick in any year they played?

While it's likely, it's not a guarantee he will be #1 pick next year. Clowney is a good example of that

EJ Manuel threw just 23 tds with the same talent around him. Jameis threw 40.
Jameis is much better. Again....I think we're judging him too harshly off of one game...
Now if he plays most of his career like the NC game.....then yea I could see it. A lot of dink and dunk passes...not reading the defense quickly enough......yep, thats some EJ stuff.

false
luck was the best QB prospect to come out of college since P Manning
Jameis may be a special player but we'll wait and see

The talent EJ had was a year older with more experience under Jameis.

Jameis seems like Vince Young 2.0 as far as pro potential goes, just subtract the crazy.

Do people realize that Rodney Smith and Greg Dent were key contributers last year? Neither was on the team.
The wide receiver core was viewed as a weakness leaving fall camp. I'm not saying EJ is no good. But Jameis helped make these wrs known. Otherwise....why didnt we hear of them before?

VY wasnt half the passer Jameis is. Jameis isnt half the athlete VY was.
I dont get the comparison.
I guess if you want a better "negative" comparison. I'd say Aaron Brooks.

idk... maybe... or maybe not...
way too early to even discuss. such a stupid topic to be discussing at this point bc he's not really even on the NFL radar right now (ok he is, but not really at his age)...
