Not really, Bey was supposed to be their deep threat, and Higgins as the slot receiver. But Higgins did play as the #1 in the last 3 games of last year and performed quite well. He caught a TD pass in each of those games.

Roussel seemed to connect well with Higgins toward the end of last season, which is why I thought he might be up there.

This thread is honestly the first time that I've devoted more than five minutes of thought to the Raiders since the draft.

Schilens looked good at the end of the year as well.

Because the ACC quaked in fear of MAryland's high flying offense and it's constant threat to go deep. I'm still baffled by the Bey draft.

I will say this about Bey......at least he's in camp unlike another dumbass WR first round selection.

Heyward Bey has been having a (not surprising at all) disappointing camp

The problem is taht the Raiders are still trying to live in the 60's and 70's and playing long ball. EPIC FAIL!!!!!!!!

At least they made up for that Bey pick in the 1st round with a solid 2nd round selection

I would really like to see Crabtree sit out, then get selected in the late 20's next year.

Im not complaining about his play. Yeah he didnt catch any of the 3 deep passes from Russell, but he was double teamed all game. Him taking on double coverage opens up things for other receivers, which is one of the main reasons why he was drafted.

Email I received about this:

Hi Folks,

Brett Favre will get all the news today but this is a BIG story: Raiders WR Chaz Schilens will miss 6-8 weeks with a broken foot.

Link: LINK

Clipped from the article by Michael Wagaman:

Chaz Schilens was having the best camp out of all of Oakland’s wide receivers and was making a strong push to be the team’s No. 1 wideout. That all changed Tuesday when the second-year player was running a route, planted his left foot to make a cut then immediately felt a sharp pain.

“I couldn’t run anymore so I knew something was wrong,” said Schilens, who hobbled out of the Raiders’ locker room with the aid of a pair of crutches. “They told me my fifth metatarsal broke, so that’s it. We’ll see how fast I heal, see what they can do.”

Typical injuries like this take 6-8 weeks to fully heal. Surgery is an option to expedite the process but several physicians prefer keeping patients in a walking boot or cast and letting the bone heal naturally.

Bummer as Schilens was a guy we were loving as a huge undervalued guy. He was on pace to earn the #1 WR spot in Oakland and was looking great in camp. Granted, that's not like the #1 WR spot in Indianapolis or New England but he was vastly undervalued in lots of drafts I've been seeing. Looks like we'll have to wait now to see who emerges in Oakland.

Have a great rest of your Tuesday.

J

Supposedly he flipped him out of his chair and the guy broke his cheek on a filing cabinet when he fell.

Me too, that'd be GREAT!!!

I really don't see him being drafted in the top 10 next year if he sits out this year.

They should do what I did in my Madden Franchise. Sign Marvin Harrison to a 2 year deal.
