Every interview I ever see with him he comes off to me as an arrogant douche. Anyone one I've ever spoken to about it agrees. I guess small sample size but it's unanimous in my experience of those I speak to yours being the first not so.

Specific example - before they played Washington in the playoffs this year there was a broadcaster doing the game on the radio that did a pre-taped interview with each of them pre-game.

The interviewer asked Hurts about his running back who had just had a historic season running the ball and he seemed perturbed at the question. Said basically their offense made running backs not the other way around and it's been that way for a while and he also said that he's won at a high level everywhere he's been and pretty much insinuated, no matter who I play with I win at a high level. Maybe some truth to that...I stress some, but really smug.

Jayden Daniels conversely deflected any credit, praised his teammates and coaches - joked around with the interviewer, and it was genuine - and made me proud after I'd just heard the Hurts interview.

Yes, Jayden lost that game but I was much prouder of how he represented himself and his family and his team than was Hurts and I don't think anyone else who heard those two interviews one right after the other would think any differently.

I’d love to see that interview. My initial thought is that you either misinterpreted or have some preexisting bias, because that doesn’t sound like Jalen at all.

I’m a bama fan and and Eagles fan, and I’ll admit that Jalen does have a “schtick” but it’s not an “I’m better than you” schtick. Best I can compare it to is Jalen tries to come off like a drill sergeant amongst a field of new marines at boot camp, which is to say that he is the leader, but he just never ever breaks character. But I can also acknowledge that maybe that’s just who is he. His dad was his high school football coach, and he’s on record that Saban’s approach is why he committed to Alabama. People forget that bama signed a 5 star quarterback in the 2015 class that redshirted (and started the opener in 2016), Jalen came anyway. He’s a different guy. Whether that’s who he “truly” is isn’t relevant, because that’s how he’s always portrayed himself since he was at least 16 years old. I love AJ Brown as a football player, but he is a stereotypical diva WR. I think involvement and winning are equally as important to AJ. Contrast that to Devonta Smith, and it seems like he would genuinely play fullback if he thought that would help the team win.

I wish I could find it for you. Honestly, I don't see how anyone could have listened to that interview and come away with a good impression of Hurts. And also, IMHO that was not the first time I've come away from an interview with him feeling that way, but I gotta say this one was really revealing in a stronger way that the others.

Now you are saying it's his attempt to come off in a military fashion and that's who he is because of his upbringing....o.k. I'll acknowledge that and still say he comes off much differently to me than to you in interviews.

I can get past his interview with CBS game crew where he cut them off to say “I’m not a running quarterback”.

I think the Saints missed a golden opportunity by not drafting Milroe. He’s a younger and more athletic Taysom Hill

He is tough as hell. Have to respect him.

He is not

He’s got great straight line speed but not the best lateral quickness, footwork, or field vision. The reason he looked so dangerous vs LSU and UGA was because they gave him too much open space. Teams like OU and UM didn’t do that. People think he’s super athletic because he runs incredibly fast but you’re not going to see him running circles around players or weaving through multiple defenders as easily as guys like Newton, Lamar, or even Hill does. He’s not as natural of a runner as they are

Hill runs straight on most of the time and is just very hard to tackle

And that's another thing about Milroe: he avoids contact a lot. He's very capable of being a physical runner (he has trucked people) but too often he just runs OOB (like 2-3 yds before the first down marker or sometimes even the LOS) or just falls down. He's also extremely adamant about being a pass first QB, so good luck on trying to make him play a gimmicky wildcat or non-QB role.

Jalen certainly has his flaws, but NO ONE will out work him.

No one.

Little overdramatic??

Hope things work out for Milroe. Not sure if he'll be another Hurts tho... maybe.

Such a great person he actually got Saban to give up and quit.

Everything points to him putting on a great facade but is an utterly selfish person that would rather destroy the team than not “get his”.

He may do nice things here and there, but is in no way a great guy.

I am going to guess you are a Poli board poster.

I absolutely abhor Alabama, but I like good people. Milroe is a good dude. Even if he flops in the show big deal. He's already done what 99.9 of the rest of us never have.

Good for him.

The dude showed up to the draft and ended up being a 3rd round pick If it wasn’t for the Sanders debacle he would have been the embarrassment of the draft

Kinda strange he got an invite to attend. Was anyone actually mocking him earlier than 2nd or third?

The polar opposite of Hurts who comes off as about a big a prick as possible every interview I see him in with always a sour expression on his face every time.

Everything I’ve seen publicly from hurts is the opposite.

Hurts was the first guy I thought of when I opened this thread praising milroe for being positive and how op is rooting him despite being a bama qb

Milroe isn't even remotely the reason Saban retired. Such a dumb statement.
