If the MFY still can afford Cano and keep him this is a pretty good move. Way too much money and excessive, but it will help them. If they lose Cano now it's an awful move because you already had Gardner.

Still kinda puzzling even if they keep Cano because this wasn't a need that you had to spend that kind of money on.

Biggest thing with Kuroda is hoping the second half of the season wasn't a sign of things to come.

CC didn't pitch like an ace last year, if they sign Tanaka then he would slide into #3 role behind CC/Kuroda and would probably pitch more like an ace. Phelps is a nice back end of the rotation guy as well and showed the ability last year.

If I was the Red Sox the most I would have been willing to give was 5 years for $80 million. This contract is just absurd.
