CHS does not have over 2000 boys there. For classification purposes, "all boys" schools have their student population doubled.

That 1/4 of the schools brings in an inordinate amount of the gate money for the LHSAA.
Expecting them to play non-select schools in district and then separating them for the playoffs is horseshite.
There's no reason why 5A public schools in New Orleans should be able to get huge gates from playing the entire Catholic League and then be able to avoid them completely in the playoffs.
I'd like to see the numbers on that. I've heard that thrown around a lot but haven't heard any types of figures or backup info to support it. I know our local public school has a full stadium every Friday night they play home, whether it is against a public or private school. And when they play on the road I've seen our crowds outnumber the home crowds of both public and private school.
And don't the Catholic schools in New Orleans get their own district? If so, a whole lot of their games must be against other catholic schools. How man public schools do they extend their benevolence to and play thereby showering them with money?
All this having been said, I have no problem with the selects staying in the LHSAA and am glad they are part of it. But I would not give in to any "my way or the highway" demands from them.

Plus all boys schools like Catholic (BR) and Jesuit have a huge advantage over schools like Ruston and Ouachita. When you have over 2,000 all boys at your school, how can we complete with that?
Once again
You serious, Clark?
Please tell me you're being sarcastic.

Can you share your point of view with us. Asking people if they're serious is wonderful and all but it doesn't really move the discussion along all that much.

CHS-BR enrollment is just north of 1,000. Doubled for classification purposes. When CHS-BR plays regular season games, there is usually an agreement with the other team that only tickets sold at the stadium are split. Tickets are sold at the school up until the day of the game. As most people will realize, very few tickets are purchased by CHS-BR fans at the stadium, ie no split of gate.

According to the LHSAA constitution, football classes should be divided into 5 equal or nearly equal classes. They are divided into 5 equal classes. The constitution does not address how they are placed when it comes to playoffs. The issue is how they are placed in the playoffs.

That 1/4 of private schools bring in an
inordinate amount of LHSAA revenue is a
total crock of sh**.

Still doesn't make it any less of a stupid idea, nor does it change that this was a horseshite rule that was rammed through without being properly researched or clarified.
There are still schools, such as dual-curriculum / magnets, which are trying to figure out if they are considered select or non-select.
If they knew what the hell they were doing before the vote on this rule, it should be somewhat easy to figure out where schools fall classification-wise.

can't say we avoid them in the playoffs bc we never make it
the last few years, Catholic League crowds have underwhelmed me. except for the first game in district football and basketball, then the other teams realize we suck

that ain't really how they are playing it....but they were pushed into a corner...
shaw opw game.. opw had about 40 fans.. shaw - 3500...
catholic league will get their own district(which in a roundabout way is what helped start this)...which has been discussed before... the publics need them for non district and vice versa..

There's enough of a core group of private / parochial / charter / magnet / lab schools in South LA that there could easily be an entire separate association without too many problems in the way of logistics.
I don't buy this at all. The 80 something teams would have nightmare logistically. It would expensive and a pain in the arse especially for the spread out north LA private schools. There would be a lot more travel in sports like basketball and baseball. Those teams play 30 plus game schedules. If it made sense for them to break away from the LHSAA they would be doing it already. The private schools aren't going anywhere.
