ULL might have bountiful choices if Napier and Pry are on the market.

What does that mean. Bigger cities means more businesses and thus more NIL opportunities does it not?

LOL. GT is a complete afterthought. Any NIL money in ATL is going to go to UGA.

Agreed to disagree. They’re awful from my fairly substantial, firsthand experience.

I remember when Justin Fuente was the hot name when he went there. Dude disappeared into irrelevance after he got fired. Almost like Tom Herman.

Looked him up and he's been out of coaching a couple years. Got on as a CFP committee advisor a couple days ago.

Some rich Hokie should hire Napier.

Hell... it could work. He can recruit and they need players more than coaching at this point. Always thought Gus Malzahn would win the ACC every year. Conversely, think about what Dabo Swinney's career would look like if he were in the SEC.

They got blown out by a Sunbelt team. That should be a fireable offense within itself. I wonder at some point if they're going to go all in on stealing Beamer Jr from USC

Yes it's dead and it's probably not coming back in the NIL era.

Before Beamer got there Virginia Tech was a complete nobody. He had them being a legitimate power for about 15-20 years but thats been over for a long time now.

Counting stacks. He's still getting money from robbing FAU.

Obviously UGA’s war chest is going to dwarf Techs, but to say nobody in the metro area cares enough about GT football to open a checkbook is beyond hyperbole.

I’ll respectfully disagree, and that’s not the UVA grad in me talking. They have some of the most arrogant fans in the country. They act as if college football started in the mid-90s and they’re one of the greatest programs in the history of the sport. Obviously, this doesn’t include every fan of theirs, but it encompasses a hell of a lot of them.
Every VT fan I know is very self-deprecating and expects the "Chokies" to come out at some point every week.

I will bite...as for those that say VT has sucked minus the Beamer years, that is just not true. We are not Bama, USC, etc but top 20 all time in wins for DIV 1.

That being said:

Beamer hung on a little too long, but you could not have fired him as he was and is still a god there.

The main problem has been the Athletic Dept...they have been too busy spending money on Womens Basketball, softball stadium upgrades, etc and other crap...

The prior AD Weaver had Parkinsons and the office went on neutral for those last couple years, then you throw in a new AD who paid $$$ for Tuberville to come to Cincy, and your foundation is gone.

Fuente was a very good game day coach (but not bringing Dickey with him to be OC was his eventual downfall), but the athletic dept did not support him the way they should. Fuente was a not a great recruiter but was not as bad as some have stated It took him almost taking the Baylor job to get commitment, but still too many of Beamer's cronies were there not helping as he was not a Virginia boy.

So, Fuente gets more money for Football, but then you bring in a guy who has never been a HC (again, good old boy network approved and passed on Elko ) in Pry who then brings in two guys who have never been OCs or DCs in Div 1. Pry has no discipline, no in game, etc....

So, yes, 2025 is lost...2026 is all but lost..the best we can hope for is 2027 being something competitive.

Also, throw in our President who is close to retirement who is from Cal tree and then Purdue is not serious about sports. I know I know...it is just part of his goals, but he has let the AD ruin sports.

All that being said.

VT fans still pack the stadium (the rest of they year will be interesting)

The BOV has approved (or we have been told) to move our athletic budget to 200 million which would be right in line with Clemson and FSU...

Some of the good old boys have retired and retiring this year...

My hopes, my wishes

Fire the AD and Pry asap...

BOV publicly state commitment to football and create a committee that has direct access to them and not through the President and AD

As for the new coach...no Beamer if he gets canned (we have to have a clean house), no Napier (yes, he was the 1st choice over Pry and we turned him down), etc... I just want a guy who brings discipline and a plan. VT has not had an identity since Foster retired.

I will still be posting up at Lane ...why, I like to suffer.

Think Shane Beamer is a great dude, unfortunately he’s barely a decent coach. Definitely not the right fit to wrestle a program like VT from the grave.
