Yeah, we are all definitely speculating here. I guess I just don't see that job as having a tremendous amount of appeal to a guy from the Midwest. You could say the same about Florida but that was his first "big time" gig, and I think the only reason he passed on Notre Dame for the UF job was the recruiting in-roads. I think he figured he could win big and quickly at Florida. Now that he has won big at two programs I think it has to be something else that draws him, and I don't think it's money.

In my opinion, it's Notre Dame and only Notre Dame, should the job ever come open.

He faked a f'in heart ailment to run from Saban. He wasn't going to Beat Saban while at Florida no more, those days were over and he knew it.

He also ran a country club of thugs and criminals. He knew hernandez was tied to murders back home, and no shits given, let's bring him to Central Florida to prey and kill more Black people.

I wonder how much the ACC relationship would factor into a Notre Dame decision. Urban would salivate at the thought of wrecking the likes of Syracuse, Louisville, and Pit 4-5 times a year. He would only play Clemson every 2-3 years under the current rotation, and they won't be on top forever.

Supposedly the problem UM had with ND was the school's restrictions on taking non qualifiers on scholarship. Severe restrictions as I recall. But let him go to Texas, please: his last season at Fla. he had 31 players arrested & he ran afoul of the NCAA at Ohio St. as well.

Could happen but that's not the easy job to win at people think it is. Big 12 ball is so offense heavy it's just hard to build a bad arse D anywhere there

think Matt Leinart said something about how he was happy on Fox and he didn't see him coaching anywhere

He said as much on russillo’s podcast the other day. Take it with a grain of salt because who knows how competitive he is and once he gets the itch, he’ll be right back in it.

I would 10/10 times take USC over UT.

At what point can we stop talking about Texas being a top 5 job?

Personally I get the feeling that last year at Ohio state really took it out of him with everything that went down and he does seem happy to be living the gruden life

But who knows. Texas is a big job and being the one to bring them back to relevancy, plus the money, could be what does it for him

I don't think he takes the job but its interesting to speculate on it cause I can see how he might be interested

I do think Meyer would too, but USC will not have an opening this year. Helton will be safe again, due to COVID this time.

I really want to have conversation with non-texas fans about where they realistically rank as a program. The horn fans in my life are aggie level delusional.

Ohio state, and bama are jobs above the rest IMO.

Oklahoma is arguably in the same class but their coaching has been so steady for so long, it’s hard to judge.

then you have a bunch of jobs in the next tier that I think Texas kinda finds itself at the bottom of

In no order:
USC, Florida, uga, LSU, Texas, Michigan, penn state, auburn, Clemson (proof of concept gets them in)

Oregon and Washington are right there but I want to see a NC before they fit those jobs.

As you said, Bama and OSU are the top 2 in the country.

I think Texas would be in the "almost elite" tier with Florida, USC, LSU, UGA, Michigan, and Notre Dame.

Texas and Michigan are mirror images of each other at this point. I've said it over and over again but until Texas begins to build their team from the inside out, their ceiling is the 11-2 Fiesta Bowl type years.

These recruiting classes with filled with 5* defensive backs and WRs are like a Ferrari with a Honda engine. They're not going anywhere near elite again until they start to recruit the trenches.

They've had 5 DL drafted in the last 10 years. They haven't had an OL drafted since 2008. It's a humbling exercise to compare those numbers with programs like Alabama, Ohio St, LSU, etc.

Nobody here will agree with you but it all depends on how you frame it. We support our program like the very top jobs on these lists as far as facilities and money but have never proven we can climb the mountaintop or really come close which Auburn has done recently.

I also think LSU UF and UGA are at least equal jobs to OU, but OU has an easier path to a championship each year.

what has Michigan done to warrant being in your "almost elite" tier? How far back are you going to support your case?

Penn State and Michigan are not like USC and neither is Texas in Austin.

If you can get USC rolling, you're the king of the 2nd largest market in the nation. You're a rockstar...and celebs come out to hob-knob with you and you get invited to all that celeb bullshite.

Watch Trojan War - everyone was treated like a celebrity in Tinsel Town.

They’ve certainly been getting some big time talent there lately as a result
