He ain't on Hakeems level yet. I hope you aren't insinuating that.
I mean, he has a PER this season that as of now only Wilt and MJ have ever done.

Bigs were actively told to do little more than work the post. There was no 3 point line and very few players that had range to create space. You had to actually dribble correctly.
So if all he was doing was posting up, then why was his fg% only 54%?

the NBA outlawed breaking the plane of the foul line because Wilt could apparently dunk his free throws.
I've heard that, but there is no way that's true.

Nobody can dunk from the free throw line from a stand-still.

Say what you want. Wilt ran the break like a pro (can still find it in video clips)
I can find video clips of Dwight Howard hitting 3-pointers.

Um, yeh a professional basketball player not being able to shoot 55% of their free throws should definitely count against coordination when you are trying to claim they are the MOST coordinated big man of all time.

You really think theres no correlation between coordination and FT ability.

Hakeem is the last I remember that could move that smoothly at that size

Did you just stop reading or are you not getting what I was saying?

Those things are kind of a big deal when it comes to post play.

Are you under the impression that 54% is a poor career FG%? That's good for like 25th all-time and I think second only to Kareem in the same era IIRC.

All the accounts say he stood at the back of the circle and took off after two steps.

No, it's not a bad percentage. But we're talking about a guy who only lays the ball up and dunks who was taller and more athletic than just about everybody in his era.

I don't believe he could actually dunk from there. Lay it up, yeah. But no way he could dunk it from there.

And played before break-away (soft) rims and in an era of hard fouls. Again 2nd to Kareem in his era (and Kareem overlapped with the modern era).

There just weren't that many good big men back then.

"Yes, Chamberlain dunked foul shots."

Just one of many accounts of him dunking free throws.

I didn't see it but there are many, many accounts of attributing the foul line rule to the fact that Chamberlain could dunk free throws.

I agree with most of the suggestioks in here... Timmy D, the Admiral, Hakeem, Paul Gasol, etc. Would also add Marc Gasol as well. IMO he has the best turn around fade away shot in the game right now for a post player. And his touch is awesome.

And he did this a few weeks ago... Link

Only other person I've seen do that in an NBA game is Larry Bird.

And is Dirk considered a big man?

Tough to beat AD though...

Yeah, this article doesn't specify. Other excerpts online say he started from the back of the circle.
