Since it surfaced I've been dying to know if they went for 2 or not.

He kicked the XP for force OT. Washington St. then upset Oregon in OT.

I think leach is a great coach for nontraditional power like Washington State. I don't think it would make sense for BAMA (or a similarly storied school) to hire him if their coach retired tomorrow.

Wouldn't matter if he won, if Leach ever went to Texas he'd win 11 games every year... The boosters would have to shut up and put up with his bizarreness.

i read a few years back where a big time P5 conference AD and Prez interviewed him for their HC job and the interview was so bad that it ended there. He has some madness to his program but you have to be able to PR with the fans and alumnus and boosters. The TT ordeal is what will keep him from ever getting a major program who competes for natties yearly.

Leach's background :

quote:

He graduated from Cody High School before studying at Brigham Young University (BYU), where he closely followed the exploits of the BYU Cougars football team. The Cougars, guided by head coach LaVell Edwards and offensive coordinator Norm Chow, played a pass-oriented offense. Leach graduated in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in American studies.[5]

In 1986, Leach earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Pepperdine University School of Law. Leach is also one of the most prominent graduates of the United States Sports Academy, from which he earned a Master's of Sports Science in Sports Coaching in 1988.

He's one of 5 Division I coaches that didn't play college football. The others? David Cutcliffe, Chad Morris, Hugh Freeze, and Paul Johnson. Pretty stout group.

Leach doesn't tolerate bullshite. He's blunt and to the point.

The Texas tech situation was total crap. Craig James kid thought it would be funny to lie and make it seem like he was being mistreated. Texas tech owed leach a million dollar bonus and that was their way out. They gave leach a thing to sign basically apologizing for the wrong doing he did to James kid and leach refused to sign it because he knew he didn't do anything wrong at all. With that, tech brass fired him right before that seasons bowl game.

You have your facts wrong on 2 of your points

1 They didn't owe him $1 Million he didn't complete the contract. They offered solutions he said no, it was 800 k also.

2. He wasn't fired he was suspended. He wasn't fired until he sued his employer.

Now they were working to fire him for cause due to him being insubordinate for job shopping at end of year. He lied to administrators about job offers and interviews.
