Is Kirk Cousins the smartest player in the league ?

The current CBA guarantees a 44 percent increase in salary for a player tagged 3 years in a row. His 2017 franchise tag was worth just under 24 million. If he is tagged again he will be owed 34 million because of the 44 percent guarantee. The skins have hinted that they will tag him again if necessary. Well why in the world would the skins think they could sign him long term now? He is due more money than market value so it's in his best interest to just let the skins tag him again and then hit free agency next year. He basically knew that if he could stay healthy, he could rob washington blind

That’s the risk he takes. I like it. And as far as “smartest qb”, I’d say no. Did you see his decision making at the end of the Saints game?

He' s not robbing them considering they don't want him but they don't have any other options. Look at teams like Houston or Miami when their starters get hurt, that's where Washington would be without Cousins.
But more importantly if he wasn't tagged he could sign a long term contract with guaranteed money. If he tears his knee and his career is over, there's no paycheck or guaranteed money next year.

He's tried to get a long term deal so I'll say no. Although, it may work out better for him in the end that the Skins would never give him said deal

Well cousins turned down a long term deal from the skins because he'd rather play under the tag. He either hates Washington or he knew he could get a free 44 percent raise

Brady married a super model tnat dwarfs his pay checks every year

also because he was vastly underpaid in their offer.
he played on the tag for 2 years now, he's paid 44mil guaranteed already. If he signed a 4/100mil contract, Redskins would have given him that 44mil in guarantees already and they wouldnt be risking anything at allnow.

True. Although "dwarfs" his paychecks might be a stretch. Aston Martin just released a Tom Brady signature edition car. I think he's doing just fine

So why on God's green earth would he sign a 4/100 at this point? He'd be leaving money on the table

Fitzpatrick keeps turning modest success in a backup role into yuuuge contracts.

You think Kirk is making these decisions by himself? There’s a reason as to why a good agent is worth the % taken.

I’d give an edge to the Chiefs Canadian lineman who is a med student.

He’s doubled down on himself this year and it might not pay off. San Fran going after him would have been leverage but they are out of the picture.

Somebody will still throw the kitchen sink at him if he hit the FA market even if the 9ers don’t chase him

Now he would be. I'm saying they should have given him the money he wanted to begin with. They would have paid the guaranteed by now and have him with minimal risk. Now, they are going to pay him a shite ton guarantees for no reason

She's retired and she still made more money than him on the field this year he ended up making more than her this year bc of some endorsements, but her yearly earning when she was active blew his out the water
Her net worth is 360 mil and his is 180 mil

yes for his own bank account...but good riddance from the Skins.

Apparently they did offer him 53 guaranteed with 72 guaranteed if he got injured. This was after the low ball offer of like 16 a year. Either way, he turned it down in favor of the tag

He doesn't perform like a 100 million QB should in big games or in crunch time vs good teams.
He's a mid tier QB who should be paid mid tier money.
The Texans fricked the QB market up so bad.
