If he retired tomorrow then no. If his production dropped off 15% and he played at that decreased level for another ten years, then yes. If his production remains the same he has a shot at being mentioned as the GOAT

The guy has been in the league for 3 years and has 54 sacks. LOL I think he has a decent shot.

ETA: Ah, misread the OP. Right now? No. Doesn't seem right, tho.

point of clarification: hes in his 4th season.

watt is great. hes everything a coach and a fan could want. but lets not make him the GOAT just yet. hes terrific, but he needs to have longevity to be in that type of class. 3 years ago, everyone said JPP was the GOAT. havent heard much of him lately....

Sack rates are inflated a bit because of the emphasis on passing, but he's still the dominant pass rusher in the league right now ...

That is also true. You also must consider the fact that JJ is white.

In a comparison between a white and black player, the white player will get the benefit of the doubt f the resumes are close because of racial prejudices. Look at how overrated guys like Larry Bird and Steve Largent are.

JJ Watt is a sack and turnover machine in a position that is a space eater for the majority of 3-4 defenses. The dude takes on two blockers and still gets to the QB. It's absurd.

I remember when Jevon Kearse was going to be GOAT after 3 years in the league

Kearse had 36 sacks through 3 years
Watt had 37 through 3

Kearse never topped double digit sacks after the foot injury in 2002, his 4th season.

Just saying you can't crown at GOAT after 4 seasons, baw

Would've been a more solid troll last year when Watt only had 10.5 sacks--Kearse had 10 in year 3. Kearse couldn't play a full season after his third year and wouldn't get 10 sacks again. Watt has 17.5 though 15 games this year--year four. And Kearse didn't have nearly as many tackles, assists, TKFLs, or pass break ups as Watt. But you got me to respond, so kudos to you.

Yeah, if you were 4 years old when Jevon Kearse was good.
