Or is he just a bad manager on good teams? He's now 0-9 in closeout games.

People like to bash NFL GMs for recycling stale coaches that are just good enough to have decent teams but that's basically been Dusty his whole career.

Cursed cause he can't manage a bullpen or bench..no way in a 9 inning game your season should come down to Wilmer Difo

I don't think he's a good manager. He's just been fortunate enough to manage some talented teams.

He's my new Les. I'll be bitter watching the Nats until he is replaced by someone better.

Nats just need to hire someone associated with the 04' Red Sox... Those guys seem to all have clutch success when they get in other organizations...

Combing the powers of the Dusty and DC chokes I predict the Nats to win the next 8 division titles but never a single postseason series

I don't understand how anybody can put this game or series on Baker. I really didn't see any tactical moves by Baker that cost the Nationals. Maybe he pulled Scherzer too early but Scherzer had allowed five hits in his last two innings and wasn't sharp at all. Plus his numbers after 100+ pitches have been terrible this year. The decision to bunt Espinosa was pretty bad but it's hard to say that it cost them the game. They still would have needed to get either two base hits or an extra base hit to score Drew. The Nationals have made the playoffs with three different managers in the last five years and have failed to win a series with any of them. Maybe just maybe it's not the manager's fault but the players who keep choking in high leverage situations.

He's a good manager in the sense he gets a lot from his players. Which is great over 162. He's a bad manager in that he makes horrible decisions at important times.

fricking Jason Werth running through a stop sign at 3rd and being out by 60 feet didn't help either.

I didn't see the third base coach during the play but I assumed he was held up. Dude was out by a fricking mile, WTF was the third base coach doing? Its the playoffs man, every run counts!

Werth having man on third with one out and failing twice was the game. Can't put that in Dusty.
