She cant make a layup. Lol. I got a hook shot my dad taught me and long arms

She certainly has the most star power, that is undeniable IMO, and you know I'm not a Caitlin Clark fanboy.
Is she just an average player in terms of skill? Again, I would say she is one of the more talented players in the league, maybe not the most, but definitely close, and she will probably get better. It seems she has already cut down on turnovers considerably.
So, anyone who thinks "just another player" is just wrong unless they are saying they don't care at all about the WNBA, so they are all "just another player."

Can’t argue with any of that

She ranks 43rd in the league in 3-point shooting percentage.
If that screams "superstar" to anyone, then there must be ulterior motives.
The best player in the league is clearly Napheesa Collier. I would venture to say that few, if any, in this thread have ever heard of her. Why do you think that is?
The WNBA is desperately trying to hype up Queen Cait as the league savior. I get it. That's what businesses do.
But talent-wise, she blends in with the rest of them. But you'd have to actually watch the games to know that.
As you said, she could get better and become the superstar she's being hyped up to be. But right now - talent-wise - she isn't.
I'd really like someone to break down her game and tell me where she excels relative to the rest of the league.

1. It shows how shitty the wnba is
2. She is the definition of generational talent for the WNBa

Angel Reese is the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 500 points and 500 rebounds.
Is she also the definition of generational talent for the WNBA?

Imagine caring about the wnba lol

Diana Taurasi holds the WNBA career record for field goals made (3341)
Tina Charles holds the WNBA career record for rebounds (4063)
Sue Bird holds the WNBA career record for assists (3234)
Tamika Catchings holds the WNBA career record for steals (1074)
Margo Dydek holds the WNBA career record for blocks (877)
Sylvia Fowles holds the WNBA career record for FG percentage (.60)
Man, there sure has been a lot of generational talent come through the WNBA, huh?

TX tIger, I love how Queen Cait bothers you (and others) Lol….you want her to be trash so very bad. Hint: she’s not. Seems like the ones that hate her and the league the most just MUST jump in every thread about them. It’s cute.

TX tIger, I love how much Queen Cait bothers you Lol
As I've stated numerous times, if she were black, nobody (certainly not on this board) would know she existed.
Case in point: Napheesa Collier is clearly the league's best player and will probably win the MVP Award. She's black. I've never seen her name mentioned on this board.
A'ja Wilson 3-time WNBA MVP - Also black. How many threads have you seen on this board mentioning her name?
quote:No, I want her to settle down and handle the hype so that she can relax and play her game. I want to be entertained just like everybody else.
you want her o be trash so very bad.

I would imagine to the majority of the population that is true, since they don't watch the wnba.

Guess I should have checked the stats. Just shows perception vs reality. But her current rate is reduced by 10% from last season's average.

The WNBA is desperately trying to hype up Queen Cait as the league savior.
I don't find that to be what they are doing. I think it is more like they are trying to push a Clark/Reese rivalry to be like the Magic/Bird rivalry that helped boost the NBA viewership through the roof.

Last season, she had the best assist season ever (if memory serves), she was top 10 in points scored, and top 5 in offensive efficiency. I'd say she was better than the average player. I have, admittedly, not watched many games.

Performance in a small sample size may not be indicative of performance. I think someone would need to define superstar and whether relative talent or at least relative performance is part of the equation. She is a superstar in terms of recognition. A lot more non-WNBA fans can identify Caitlin Clark vs Aja Wilson. The same is true for Angel Reese.

Relative to the top players or to the average player who is "just another player". A person can be better than "just another player" and not be a superstar.

quote:I don't even think anyone in this thread, or any of the others, is arguing that Clark is the best player in the league. She is, without question, the only superstar in the WNBA. She is the only WNBA player with national name recognition and she is the sole reason viewership is up in both television ratings and attendance.
She is a superstar in terms of recognition.
All the players below may be better than Clark, but nobody outside of maybe the markets they played in, or their college fanbase, knows who they are.

I know this was a troll thread to get TXTiger riled up and it worked, but this really is a stupid discussion and I feel bad for participating in it.

So a superstar is defined by two stats of your choosing? Lol

See above
If she’s “just another player” then shouldn’t there be several other current player with those same awards/accolades, and several others with BETTER awards and accolades?
