Wait what? Harper was not the reason they missed the postseason

It's either a)the absence of Bryce Harper or b) moving from 13th to 2nd in starter ERA and .100 OPS points from Turner and Rendon in 2019 over 2018 and a healthy Adam Eaton.

Baseball is different in how one position player can carry a team, so the team success thing is not really relevant imo.

But yes, Harper is overrated.

One position player can carry a team in baseball? Mike Trout would disagree

Bryce Harper was never brought in for production, he was brought in to sell tickets and he did that. He makes baseball fun. At the same time yes he’s extremely overrated and could probably be considered locker room cancer. He’s the Westbrook or Cam Newton of the MLB.

Almost too many hot takes to even process in this post

He's both. He's hugely overrated as a player. And he's not a positive influence on the team. He's not a leader. He's all about his brand.

He has been to the playoffs several times as well.

He sure has. Wanna compared his performance in the playoffs to those two? Wanna compare wins and losses?

Those two lead their teams to victories. Bryce hasn’t even won a series. And outside of 14 he has been atrocious in the playoffs.

I’m not even gonna touch the ludicrous 6 all stars.

We give Trout a lot of benefit about not being able to do it himself, but for some reason Bryce gets all the blame for the Nats woes.

That ain’t me. I was ascribing no blame. Nor was I calling him a cancer.
