Nationals - won wildcard, won playoff series over best team in the NL, just won game 1 of the NLCS on the road

Phillies - finished the regular season .500 and second to last in the NL East, just fired their manager

Clearly Washington is better off without Harper. Is it too early to say that Philadelphia shouldn’t have spent all that money on him?

Bryce Harper was never brought in for production, he was brought in to sell tickets and he did that. He makes baseball fun. At the same time yes he’s extremely overrated and could probably be considered locker room cancer. He’s the Westbrook or Cam Newton of the MLB.

Nope. Both of those players were in championship game.

Harper, if he maintains production for the next ten years, would be someone the Hall would consider.

Westgoat is a first ballot HOF right now. Cam has had a better career as well.

So both players make a championship game one year and lose it and that makes the comparison off? From a standpoint of being a huge player in the media and also being considered locker room cancer to possibly overrated they all fit the bill.

Russ and Cam have both led their teams to the playoffs multiple times. Both are MVPs.

Bryce isn’t in the same category as Russ.

There is nothing about those two being cancers.

Wait what makes you say Westbrook is a locker room cancer?

I don’t think he’s a cancer. He is overrated. He’s seen as being up there with Trout, or at least was couple years ago, but look at the numbers and he’s not close.

Harper isn't a cancer, he busts his arse on the field and doesn't any teammate drama or legal issues.

His problem is that .255 avg but overall he was not even close to the biggest issue the Phils had this year - pitching, Hoskins sucking, Cutch injury, etc.

I guess you missed his fight with Papelbon.

Yes, the injuries really hurt the Phillies this season. Harper wasn’t bad, he just had a poor average.

I used to hate the guy but he seems ok really. You never see anything bad about the guy.

He had a good year and will be better next. That slow start likely won't happen again.

Bryce is a six time all-star and has a MVP in a much more difficult sport. He has been to the playoffs several times as well.

We give Trout a lot of benefit about not being able to do it himself, but for some reason Bryce gets all the blame for the Nats woes.

If you swapped Washington’s pitching with Philly each team would be in reverse spots

Papelbon got the jump on him and had a weight advantage but gotta take Harper on that one unless Papelbon sat on him

Yeah it was just so sudden and unexpected that Harper didn’t even know what was happening before he was shoved against the wall

Yeah Papelbon was on the step and Harper was lower and Papelbon lunged at him and grabbed his neck then pushed him against the bench

But Papelbon had issues near the end of tenure with Boston and throughout his tenure with the Phillies

He’s just lucky he’s a pretty white boy otherwise most fans would be calling for his head for that shitty average considering his pay.

If they miss the postseason again next season and he’s as big as a dud as this year you will see Philly fans turn on him with a quickness.

Makes me happy to see the Nationals do this without him, overrated as frick.
