re: Is America only country that feels sports teams need new stadiums constantly?

The English Premier League has 6 teams in London alone. Arsenal has a new stadium, West Ham is probably moving into the Olympic Stadium last I heard, and Wembley is new but doesn't host a club team. I doubt 4 MetLife Stadiums will be going up to support the other London clubs.
Italy's venues are garbage for a major league but their government makes it near impossible to build new venues, although Juventus recently got it done.
Internationally it seems the support to build new venues only comes when they secure an Olympic or World Cup bid.

Because they stick the taxpayer for the cost of the new stadiums. Want to look at America's economy and debt as part of this conversation?

My german friend went to a bama game and said that the stadium/environment blew away anything he had ever seen in European pro sports and he couldn't believe it was a college venue.

Most Europeans are simply amazed by how seriously college football is taken over here. I have a Greek friend who still cannot believe how big Kyle Field is for a school team, and he just shakes his head when he realizes that we're not even close to being the biggest cfb venue.

The ability of teams to easily move cities even within the same small geographical region in the US makes it pretty easy to play localities off against each other to secure public funding. In places like Australia and England, franchises also often represent a single part of a city, which likely makes moving more difficult to sell

You think that helps your argument?

Met a French guy at the LSU-South Carolina game that thought LSU WAS a professional team.
He said he had never seen or heard anything like that environment.

No offense but as an opposing fan I didn't think Kyle Field was impressive at all. Maybe I just missed the mystique because it wasn't a night game?

Seems like most international teams, soccer clubs, etc. take pride in the history and mystique of their historic venues
and then the historic out of date stadium collapses and half of europe dies.
Soccer riots, stampedes and stadium collapses

I am shocked that in the post-2008 economic reality that this is still going on, but somehow people have accepted being held hostage by team owners.

This. Just like Tiger Stadium and many other venues, Kyle is a different animal under the lights.
Place WAS rocking in the 1st quarter, till Miles made our asses quit

Huge renovations. That place was a shithole when I used to go there.

I don't like to see the old places go.
Wrigley to me is the one that sticks out the most at this point, simply because it is affiliated moreso with the neighborhood than Chicago as a whole.
You rarely saw new college facilities being built, but that is also the norm now.
UNT
TCU (sort of)
Houston (just started demolishing theirs)
just in Texas as far as new stadiums go. And Baylor will be next.
