I rather enjoyed watching his less than stellar performances this year.
38 TD, 8 INT, 4200+ yards while throwing to #3/4 receiver all season and no running back.... OVER RATED

John Elway or Joe Namath - probably Elway because most fans understand Namath wasn't an all time great

People still rave about Elway more because he was a physical freak than he was ever the best QB in the game (There was no year in his career when he was better than Montana, Young, and Favre)

Wow, I'm actually shocked at the number of people in this thread who think the best way to gauge a pitcher's ability is by looking at his wins total.

maybe because he has jack and shite as a supporting cast?

I disagree that Rodgers is one of the most overrated, but. . . As far as his supporting cast is concerned, he has the best corps of WRs in the game. Defense, on the other hand. . .

Montana is the most overrated if you think he's the greatest QB ever and site "ringz" as the reason.

I guess it depends on what you're measuring. Most of these players probably say their ultimate goal is winning the Super Bowl. By that standard, Montana is the best.

If we're measuring based on who on average is best at the mechanics of being a Quarterback, Peyton Manning perhaps, maybe Dan Marino. But both are/were mediocre at winning given their talents.

Can I throw out Doug Flutie?
I mean he got a lot of hype when he was with Buffalo but it may have been because of his height and what everyone remember he did in college, but still....

And one of the worst set of running backs of any team in playoff history, probably.

Pitcher is way different than QB. QB is a team leader and does a lot more than just throw the ball; e.g., reads defenses, audibles, goes through progressions. . . hell, the list goes on and on. Not a good comparison at all.

A QB has a lot more influence over his team's W/L record than a pitcher.

Flutie was a great story and a good QB - I've never run into a fan who puts him up there with all time great QBs

Baseball is a bad comparison. A starting pitcher plays about one every four games. He has no control over the other starting pitchers, he has no control over his teammates' abilities to score runs, limited control over their abilities to field the ball.

With quarterbacks, they're running half of the team (not counting special teams) every game. They have more control and thus you can hold them more accountable regarding the win column.

I haven't either, but according to OP Title we are just talking over rated QB's in reference to hype (at least how I took it) or does it have to be someone in HoF or on way to possible HoF?

I say again, the Packers WRs are the best in the game.

I dunno - it sounds like you're more annoyed by how much somebody likes Flutie than you are by how over-rated he was

No

He doesn't belong on any QB list, unless it's for drop kicks

Vinny Testaverde's career totals and his place on the all time list:

Total Offense: 44902 (6)
Passing yards 46233 (7)
Passes completed: 3787 (7)
TD passes: 275 (10)

As a whole, not when their #1/2 miss practically whole season... I would take Atlanta's Julio/Roddy over any other combo
