That's all I'm saying.

I agree the more luck you can take out of the game the more skill will be shown.

And all I'm saying is that you're bitching. I respect your opinion, and I hope you respect mine.

How pissed would you be if you were palyng in some meaningful match and some tard took a crater out of the fairway and didn't bother fixing it and your ball somehow found it's way down in it?

You mean like in LHSAA state in 2008 and the Baton Rouge Amateur last year, on the last hole? Yea, I birdied both, because I didn't let it get me down. It's shitty, but I dealt with it. You know what else is shitty? When your ball hits a sprinkler head on the side of the green on the hole before, and you lose that hole to bring the match back to even, causing me to go to 18.

That sprinkler head shouldn't be in the fairway to water the green! How dare they! I should have been able to replace my ball next to the sprinkler head...

ETA: I've played way to much competitive golf for random shite like this not to happen...you learn that your not perfect, your shots aren't perfect, and the course isn't perfect. Deal with it.

Christ, one out of ever 10000 shots ends up in a divot.

Eta: I was doing too many things at once.

Exactly, golf is about adapting. It's not about hitting a ball off a tee.

Had that happened to me in the lhasa state in 2008 and the br amature last year and I'd shanked the shot or hit it fat or thin and made bogie or double or whatever then I'd be bitching.
As I said earlier I don't remember the last time my ball ended up that way.... So I'm not bitching, I'm just statjg my opinion that the rule fricking sucks and regardless if you make birdie orpar or bogie, you shouldnt have to contend with that particular circumstance in the middle of a fairway.

All I'm saying is you can't make rules that are subjective. People will start interpreting the rules tha way they see fit.

"hey, this brown patch that my ball is near is a divot. I should get a free drop."

You play the ball where it lies. That's the only way it's fair.

So my example of hitting a yard marker in the middle of the fairway and it kicking your ball into the water

This happened to me while playing with a group of friends last summer. We were playing competitively and all 3 of them wouldn't let me take a stroke, one guy even went up to the marker and lobbed a ball forward ~15 yards in front of it and they made sure I played from there...

why don't you just hit out of your own divots on the driving range? Sometimes you just step in shite. Didn't mean too but it's on your shoe.

Is the fairway that part where the grass is short? I bet its nice to hit from over there.

If you were allowed to move out of a divot you'd get into the 'what is a divot' argument. IE, your ball lands on a tiny patch of hard dirt. You move it to a nice piece of grass.
Partner: You can't do that.
You: Hey, it's a divot.
Partner: No it's not.
You: Yes it is.

Some of you may remember when Johnson was hitting out of a small piece of dirt.
The official: Penalty for grounding your club in a bunker.
Johnson: That's not a bunker.
Official: Yes it is.

What pisses me off is the errant shot near the green that goes into a bunker. When you get there, some dickhead playing ahead of you (that you'd like to choke the living shite out of!), has trashed the bunker and left deep footprints and blast holes. Of course... YOUR ball finds the deepest unplayable hole he left and it is impossible to play out. When someone does that you should be able to pull out and drop in the bunker no nearer the hole.

I'm not saying that the same thing should apply to a plugged lie, or a ball so close to the lip that it's impossible to play out. That's rub of the green. I'm talking about bullshite holes that shouldn't be there.

Does this mean we can improve our position if we are in the sand trap and someone does not rake is after they use it ?

And lets not get started about those divots on the green..

That is totally different. It would never come up in a PGA event. If I am playing I would move the ball in the bunker. There are course condition issues there.
