They lost by giving up over 40 points.
Everyone keeps saying this.

Oh well Michigan gave up 50 points, that's why they lost.
Both were incredibly close games. The important bad calls matter.
How many points did TCU and Georgia give up?
I mean c'mon...you can't just say, oh they lost because muh points when both games came down to the wire...
...and Michigan got royally fricked by refs taking game winning points off the board by and Georgia got help by the refs.

I love it when people want to blame a loss on 3 plays when the team gave up 42 points.
"Michigan got screwed by the refs." No, Michigan gave up 51 points.
"Ohio State got screwed by the refs." No, Ohio State had a 14 point lead in the 4th Quarter and blew it.
Bad calls happen in every game. With the importance of these games, the fact that there were no overwhelmingly obvious bad calls (think PI in Rams/Saints) is amazing.
Michigan and Ohio State had their chances (especially Ohio State). They blew them, plain and simple.

The shite that I have seen called targeting made that call horrible tbh.

The timing of the whistle is irrelevant anyway, all that matters is the timing of when the coach or player signals or yells it. Ref could have dropped his whistle and fumbled it for 3 seconds after the snap, it’s still a timeout
Took the words right out of my mouth.

Wasn’t even close to targeting. Would have been the worst targeting call in history if it would have stood

What was crazy is the K made a similar kick from 48 during the game.

Replay showed that on the fake punt that OSU converted that the snap was off before the timeout was called.
Whistle was before the snap
Smart was verbally calling for timeout seconds before the snap. It takes time to acknowledge and blow the whistle. It was in time.

Overturned 4th down stop gave Georgia 7.
Overturned targeting on Harrison cost OSU 4.

Lmao, you're 0 for 4 on this post, with only 3 statements... That's impressive.

Overturned targeting
I've definitely seen targeting called for much less. As usual, they don't know what targeting is, so not sure we do either.
Doesn't really matter, though. Those four points were nothing compared to losing Harrison for the game. Good on our coaching staff for keeping him out, though. Some others (Dabo) would've had him back out next series.

Hootie Jones knocked out Mike Williams in the 2016 title game and Williams came back in three plays later. Yet it is never even mentioned. His entire body went limp and fumbled the ball but was lucky his body fell on it.

I'm sure this has been covered. I don't have a dog in the fight. Why wasn't pass interference called on the non targerting?

There were 79 points scored after that. Who knows how it plays out if that call stands.

I mean, no, we've seen much worse calls.

OSU's lineman literally had Jalen Carter wrapped up by his legs.
On another play, the OL had him by his neck.

Are we going to forget that obvious hold on the center on the long stroud run at the end of the game?
Posted on 1/1/23 at 2:49 pm to Jim Hopper
There were so many ridiculously bad/obvious holds that were let go. I get holding happens on every play, but at least made the OL disguise it better. Carter was literally in a bear hug from behind on one big play as I recall.
Also, just saw it pointed out that OSU had 12 guys on the field on that fake punt so it would have been reviewed and penalized if Smart hadn't called time out.

The only real ref screwing I saw today was the Michigan TD that was, on video review, called down on the half yard line. I was for TCU all the way, but that video overturn was terrible.
