Get back to me when you have 27 championships. Greatest franchise in sports history.

You don't even know the year of the Yankees' only championship you were old enough to watch.

Can't win every year but no excuse for product Cashman is putting on the field. And, what was the reason we fired Girardi?

2009? What are you talking about

Could take a century off and still have big lead.

Technically not but their fans are living off the core four and that period... they've been a average to below average team since 2001.

I look at it much differently. I thought the NYY made great moves to rectify weaknesses. Benentindi was a perfect fit and he got hurt. DJ is a great hitter who doesn't strike out and gives flexibility. He got hurt. They lost relief pitchers to injury.
They emphasized defense more in the off-season getting rid of Sanchez and finding Trevino. Underrated trade for Bader who played great in the post season.
I don't think it's as bad as it looks.

Donaldson was a horrible move for them, he has nothing left in the tank. They need to buy him out and figure out 3B even if it means IKF plays there. Then they need to really dedicate to their young players instead of pushing them back.

Eating 51 million of Donaldson money was a bone head move. But they had to do it to get rid of Sanchez.

Didn't they take on that contract to get IKF and the C that didn't play?
They also gave up Urshela who he and Sanchez didn't cost but half of Donaldsons contract

Take heart Yankee fans. You will always have Mr. October

Posted on 10/24/22 at 11:42 am to Tiger Ryno
None of those can help win in October. And pitching is certainly not built for October.
Posted on 10/24/22 at 11:43 am to Jumpinjack
I thought their pitching was fine this postseason, doesn't help when your offense cannot produce a fee hits together.
Posted on 10/24/22 at 11:47 am to Errant_Knight
Okay, fine doesn't cut it in NY. This team had no chance of winning it all - with or without injuries.

The Yankees remain hesitant to give young players a true chance to earn a job and perhaps play through some struggles, similar to how Houston has done with Pena and their starting pitching or Atlanta has done with Riley/Harris/Strider. Their farm system has gotten a lot of hype the last few years, but when push comes to shove they would rather fill holes with the IKF’s and Donaldson’s of the world instead of letting a Peraza or Cabrera play every day.
Either they aren’t as high on those guys internally as folks who cover the game are or they don’t see it as compatible with contending every year and are caving to external pressure somewhat. The latter isn’t really excusable. They may be the Yankees but you still need to be able to fill weaknesses internally and you never know if you don’t try to find out

Astros had injuries also. McCullers missed most of season. Brantley starting LF is out and misses 2/3 of season.
Astros replaced players including pitchers.
All teams have injuries. Unless I’m missing the rule that Yankees are exempt?
Astros farm system must be OK too. Peña called up to replace all star short stop.
Alvarez from farm … also that no name CF who hit the 2 run homer off of Cole.
All that starting pitching except JV … farm.
Relievers free agents mostly or trades.
Yankees have all the resources possible to get players. Didn’t pick the right ones.

I mean SP was the least of the Yankees concerns this post season, the offense was absolutely laughable. The bullpen was not lock down either but really when you are averaging 2-3 runs a game you aren't going to win much.

"No chance of winning it all"? Obviously you weren't watching when their record was the best in baseball. Till the injuries kicked in. And that was after several mths of the season, not just one mth. Again, not making excuses. Playing 162 games usually results in the best teams winning their divisions +. And the Yankees' division was one of the strongest in the League. Disappointed, yes. Embarrassed, not in the least.
