I’m still not sure why Mick Cronin took the UCLA job

Just seemed like a weird move in hindsight.

Maybe he was looking for a change of scenery. He was involved in the UNLV search a few years ago

Maybe so but UCLA Basketball is the equivalent of Nebraska football. No one will ever win big there again. Look at the casualties of Nebraska football. Never did shite as a head coach after leaving.

That argument would be valid if he wasn’t a Cincinnati grad

I’m an Auburn grad but I’d still rather live in West Palm

UCLA’s last title was in 1995. They have played for one more since then.

Nebraska has played for two since then and won one.

The comparison since 1995 is pretty spot on. Sorry to bombard you with facts.

In the last 15 years, UCLA had made three final fours and multiple runs to at least the second weekend of the tournament while continuing to have no problem in recruiting elite talent. Alford was a garbage coach, I am not sold on Cronin at this point in time, and UCLAs administration continues to be troublesome from a fans point of view. But the insinuation that UCLA is a Nebraska level dead program with no hope in ever becoming a consistent winner is a wild one

I would have waited at Cincy for a better gig than be anywhere near LA.

Let's just skip over the 3 straight final fours from 06-08

Sure he can live in LA....for now! What if he doesn’t succeed? Then he will have left a program in Cincinnati he could’ve coached at until retirement. Not only that, if he fails at UCLA, he hurts his legacy. He could’ve stayed and coached at Cincinnati for over 30 years and been a legend. Grass isn’t always greener.

UCLA is in one of the nicest neighborhoods in the country. If you’re making millions of dollars per year, there aren’t many places nicer than Beverly Hills.

The equivalent of Nebraska football? They’re located in the biggest recruiting hotbed in college basketball and are in the same city as the most popular basketball franchise in the world. Kobe and Magic regularly played pickup games with the UCLA basketball team and hosted scrimmages featuring many NBA players on UCLA’s campus every summer. If anything, UCLA should be the easiest program in college basketball to win at.
