Pretty sure the rev share they receive is contingent on them being students.
And NIL is out of scope.

One of the bigger mysteries to me is why LSU continues to allow Glenn Guilbeau press privileges. He literally does nothing but write negative stuff about LSU 24/7.

Because they would become the bad guy if they did that.
All the faggy "journalists" either don't see an issue with what he does or wish they could do the same thing. Pulling his credentials would be an "attack" on their profession and they would never let LSU live it down.
That they all manage to close ranks around the worst of their brethren is very in line with the prevailing political leanings of the people in that profession.
ETA: It's why there are almost no actual reporters calling them out on this bullshite lawsuit. It's just alternative media people that they will dismiss as not being "classically trained."

This was my first thought as well
The classic high school band nerds vs the jocks, but in the big boy world

Nice that big brother is on your mind.
I post an article about journalists trying suing to get access to how universities pay athletes, something that’s happening in other states, and one whose result would definitely have a domino affect on UL, LA Tech, ULM, etc., but yeah…I only posted this because “big brother is on my mind”.
If it makes you feel any better, I don’t like the suit because I’m thinking the motivation of an outfit like LA Illuminator is to make a male vs female athlete issue and drag more Title IX stuff into this.
But you just keep being a dumbass.

LSU already publically releases what it goes out via rev sharing by sport. Why the frick do these nitwits need to see it by individual athlete?

Look at how much Dedan Thomas Jr. got who never played versus Mikaylah Williams. Can predict that shite a mile away.

That’s exactly what Illuminator is trying to dig at.

Rev share goes through the school and we know how much public money is being spent to pay athletes. This year it’s $20.5 million
Anything from the MMR fund (read true NIL) is not public money. Businesses use the MMR to access athletes for marketing purposes. That would not be subject to public scrutiny.
Honestly not sure the public has a vested interest in knowing which players are getting what % of that $20.5M

Why not? It’s our tax dollars, we should know how it’s being spent. If the biology department had $20.5m distributed to its professors would you want to know if a portion of it was to a professor to study if fluoride was turning the frogs gay?
Do I care personally that the starting QB is getting a larger portion of it than the 15th man on the basketball team? No, but it’s still public money and should be accessible to someone if they do care.
These kids want to be paid like grown adults, so they are going to have to live with the scrutiny on their income that comes with that.
