Today was absolutely wild, and the scene at BYU is an incredible way to end the day, no offense to the SAD games. All that said, in a 12 team playoff, ND is still fine. And next year? This game means shite.

I know ESPN pushed this thing, but that limp-dick cuck Sankey went along with it. The presidents went along with it. If it makes an extra $3.50, they’ll do it.

frick them in the arse with an AIDS dick, repeatedly.

Did they? Bc all their talking heads were trashing it on gameday this morning. I was wondering if the CFP is it's own entity separate from the NCAA in which case, of course it would want to continue to grow. Then it becomes can the NCAA do anything about it? But idk who runs this thing anymore

I don’t think the talking heads are making those money decisions that the execs are doing behind the scenes.

It is separate. NCAA has never awarded the FBS championship.

100%.

College football upsets used to be soul stealing events that became coast to coast earthquakes. Stanford beating USC, Tebow crying on the field, appy state housing a blocked kick in the big house and shitting on an entire fan base on day 1 was college football.

College football upsets are now the purview of gamblers and regional novelties.

Something great was stolen from this land. And we let it happen.

We have no one to blame but ourselves. Because we keep watching and spending. And we'll keep watching and spending.

Preach. All these upsets and half of them will still be in position to make the playoffs. In the 24 team playoff it'll be even worse. A day like this it would be total destruction in the past and people would be waiting on BYU/Miami to lose because everyone else would be on the outside looking in. Now it's just like "we could afford that but we better not do it again". fricking lame, I miss the urgency and how devastating just 1 loss can be in the regular season.

It will be like the Chiefs losing to the Raiders. No big deal.

We would have been talking about this Saturday for quite some time. Five of the top 10 lost today, and I bet three of them still get in without too much trouble. Next year, I’d say all 5 still get in.

ND upset against BYU, next year they may not get a top 8 seed and first round bye.

And in 5 years, 24 teams still won't be enough.

But..but...it will mean something! It could mean the difference between hosting or being on the road in week 3 of the playoffs!

ESPN actually did not want this.
The Big Ten pushed for it hardest and they leveraged ESPN to pony up or open the door for competition to own part of the playoff rights.
The purpose? Apparently it’s to fool big donors into believing their money is working because the only way any of the suits see relevance is in a playoff
