He lost to SC this year yet they’re better than SC

And Washington lost to Cal and Ohio State lost to Purdue and Clemson has lost to Syracuse and Pitt the last couple of years. It's college football, better teams lose every week.

If you can't tell the difference between WAZZU and LSU you are special needs.

There’s the excuses I’m talking about. People always have a ready made excuse for Leach

So was his team more talented than Minnesota, Cal last year, Arizona last year?

How did they beat SC last year?

I'd say they're pretty comparable to Cal and Arizona talent wise

Leach is a great in-game coach with a great philosophy and gameplan/strategy

Gus calls his offense a wing T from the gun so no not really. Briles got his start and made his name in Texas as a HS coach so he more then likely was influenced by leach's air raid but not sure

Any Coach who recruits this guy to be his QB is a Top 3 coach.

This kinda got me thinking....his personality and antics aside, I wonder how Leach would do in NFL since he wouldn’t have to worry about recruiting and he’d have more talent to work with than ever before

for how much i celebrated his offense in this thread, i can't imagine it working in the NFL

it feasts off college defenses. it's a lot of the same play out of different formations. shite the NFL would eat up

Can we honestly say Leach isn’t a good recruiter though? He’s not getting his pick of the litter. Reminds me of Chip Kelly while at Oregon; no matter how good we were and how handicapped USC was, we continued to lose recruits to them. To UCLA. To Texas. To Ohio St (they were still on top unlike the others though.)

At WSU he’s finding guys who can fit his philosophies and run his offense. Chip Kelly could make a 3* look like a 5*. Leach kinda does the same thing (less flashy offense, still yields results).

Nick Saban and the Alabama Tide lost to UL Monroe. Should they had fired him then?

Did Saban lose back to back years? Nope nice try.

As I said he lost to EWU and PSU in consecutive home openers. Then lost to Cal (without Goff) and Minnesota that didn’t even want to play the game

Michigan St humiliated them last year as well.

Why is that relevant? Does Leach have thre luxury of coaching at a powerhouse university where he can outclass his competition ten fold?

You are saying that EWU and Portland St should win those games?

So a Big Sky team should beat Pac-12. Teams on talent?

The school is about as important as the coach when it comes to recruiting.

5 stars have no interest in going to Pullman or Lubbock as there is no history, or anything else, there.

Put Saban in Pullman and he won't be pulling top 25, let alone number 1 classes.

It’s football.

If Leach continued losing to FCS schools, you’d have a point. Eastern Washington was probably more talented than WSU that year.

Exactly. That’s my point. Chip Kelly, not a great recruiter but he had results, flashy unis, National name, etc, was losing guys to USC (on probation) and UCLA. WSU would need to win 3 national championships before 18 year olds knew who they were.

Look at Wisconsin.

Even with sustained success it's rare for them to break into the top 25 in the recruiting rankings. Usually in the 30's.

The blue bloods have an inherent advantage no matter the coach.
