That's the whole point of the thread, though. With all talent being equal, would you prefer Leach or Dabo?

hell my OP said, with bold, that Leach wasn't near Dabo in terms of CFB HC

No he isn’t. It’s because he can’t win big games when he needs to.

I know people love his offense but to be a top 3 you need to have repped your division in a CCG

Top 3 coaches do not lose to Minnesota in a bowl game they threatened not to play in. They don’t lose to FBS teams in back to back years. They don’t lie to AD’s about getting interviews then beg to pay to fly tointerview.

Leach isn’t even the most innovative coach in his conference. That guy in LA Chip Kelly is

not if you can't get the talent to do it

Leach isn't a good recruiter. he's chosen to coach in BFE waste programs where he can't stumble into elite talent

he almost did in a major conference. he's about to this year

Bowl wins
Conference Championships
Draft Picks
Wins

I mean what’s going to be the excuse this time? People make excuses for Leach because he is quirky.

to bring it back to this thread. again, recruiting/talent isn't at issue here

leach has made WSU consistently good, something Price couldn't do. what's a better sign of a good coach: relying on miracle years when you luck into top talent or everything falls your way, or avoiding the pitfalls?

According to SMS, not being Mike Leach.

I'm convinced Leach big leagued SMS at some bullshite coaching conference that Leach didn't want to be at, and he went from an idol to his mortal enemy over it.

Off the top of my head I’d take Saban Urban Petersen and Patterson before him I think. But that’s probably it. I would say top 5

Is Saban even a good coach if he doesn’t have a roster full of 5* players?

Patterson

you'd think the last 3 years would have taken some shine off of him. 1 good year and 2 terrible ones

TCU is trending down from that 2014-2015 peak

Next year is big for him. If they have another year like this one or 16 I’ll agree with you. It’s close for me between him and Leach, and I put him ahead because I think his style of play has a higher ceiling.

Gus offense be traced back to the Air Raid somehow?

Gus runs a 2-back play action scheme out of the hurry up, no huddle. His passing game is middle school level of screens and deep bombs. No where near an Air Raid.

he literally took the leap when he started running Leach's offense

yes gus went allin on the spread option and never looked back. his main claim to fame was combining his hurry up principles with the spread option (Chip Kelly did it better, though). when it was new, it was devastating

I can see Washington state being the team that this board can get behind. That’s officially adopt them

They’ve also always prioritized the front 7 on defense and developed talent much better in that area. Wazzu’s defense has been solid this year but that’s definitely the exception with him
