Golf Easily.
If I'm the GOAT, I'd have a 5 years of being better than Tiger ever was, and he got 8 majors in 5 years(2000-2005). If I won half of that, I'd be set for a long time.
I'd imagine it would take me a few months to break into the PGA scene, but when I'm there it's game over. Win the Masters a couple of times, you're there.

Being a young black male with an extremely warm personality, the money would come pouring down in endorsements. Then, after 5 years, I'd tell them that I was going to stop focusing on golf, and go to professional/grad school(law/med/business/etc.)-they would love that shite, sending me into a bigger Tim Tebow role model category. Big money.

For all those saying soccer, I don't think it would be the best sport for this scenario, IMO. You would be lucky to make it to Leeds United by the start year 3.

Nobody would touch my record of 16 straight majors. I'm assuming the first year would be consumed by Tour qualifying tournaments and Q-school.

Nah.. You would qualify for the Masters early in your first year as you win tournaments that you had to go through qualifying rounds to get in.

Without a doubt boxing. You could make so much fricking money in a 5 year period.

Golf would be second.

UFC after that.

5 years wouldn't be horrific but tennis is actually BRUTAL on knees, hips, ankles if played for a long time.

What? People are talking about boxing, football, and UFC and you are saying tennis is bad on your body? I see lots of players in their 40's and 50's on the champions/legends tours (Johnny Mac, Mats Wilander, etc). An unfortunate number of former boxers and football players can't even walk or talk.

As much as I like the golf answer, I think that tennis may be the correct answer.

There hasn't been a 'great' American male tennis player in some time. Imagine the endorsements for life when you pulled off a grand slam.

Compare that to the many good American pro golfers now.

Tennis

You can break into the sport at 17 or 18 and have a respectable 5 year career. Tennis players are only in their prime until about 28 as its extremely difficult on the joints (shoulder and knees) so start early...knock off a few top seeds in Grand Slams...and sign a huge endorsement deal with Nike as the next Pete or Andre. Bank.
