The one time that Peyton won the SB, he had 3 TDs to 7 TOs in the playoffs. How he got mvp of that SB is beyond me.
It was pretty much the Lifetime Achievement MVP. Manning was attrocious. Hell he wasn't that much better than Rex fvcking Grossman.

I was just referring to that one game, which someone referenced as an example of him choking. By the end of the game when the choking happened the temp had reached single digits and it was pretty obvious that his arm was dead. He couldn't throw a 10 yard out
Note to self:
When I am exhuasted after a 5 quarter slugfest and my arm is falling off, don't committ the number one QB offence and throw across my body while rolling right.
Got it.

There are 4 guys who have changed the way the position was played... Sammy Baugh, Johnny U, Joe Montana, and Peyton Manning.
Otto Graham was more influential than Sammy Baugh.
And as far as influencing the game, Montana didn't advance it that much outside of being dominant and a professional winner.
As an honorable mention I'd add Fran Tarkenton to any list about influential QBs. Had it not been for Staubach's infamous Hail Mary Tarkenton would rightfully have his Super Bowl and be mentioned among the greats like he deserves.

Slingin' Sammy opened up the game
No offense to Otto, but his big influence was that he won a lot

Baugh legend is partly due to the fact that he was one of the best QBs, CBs, AND punters to ever play the game. He was insane at so many levels.
What Baugh started to bring to the game at the QB position, however, Graham perfected it.
I'd have no problem with someone putting Baugh over Graham, I just prefer the later. They're both 2 of the greatest of all-time for sure.

Oh and he didn't CHOKE in the playoffs YEAR AFTER YEAR like Peyton does. And yeah, PLAYOFFS DO MATTER!!!!
So does sample size.
Also, if Manning chokes, why are his playoff stats better than nonchokers' stats?

Montana is the GOAT and I say that as a Saints fan. I watched him play. If that dude played in today's NFL (in his prime) he'd be a lock for 40-50 TDs a season.

Not taking anything from Manning performance, but the way defenses aren't allowed to play plays into his #'s. Would have loved to Marino play today

Personally I'd take John Elway
He carried three teams to the Super Bowl on his back. Maybe the three least talented teams to ever reach that game yet he took them there
And it really doesn't matter who's the GOAT, it's a subjective rather ridiculous argument that people promote for some unknown reason

Peyton plays safety?
What if Kendra Wilkinson's husband would have held on to the onside kick in the Super Bowl?

Did you see Joe play? He was an ice fricking cold assassin.
You guys do realize it's far easier to pass the ball successfully in the NFL today due to rule changes designed to keep simpletons entertained who would otherwise drift off during a 13-7 slugfest, don't you? They've changed the ways offensive lineman block, and the secondary can cover WR's all with the intent to see more passing yards and TD's.
48 tds from 1984 Dan Marino is worth 65 today.

Who is a better quarterback? Who played the position better? If you answer joe, you're a homer or insane.
Montana. You're a child, and didn't have the benefit of seeing Montana play.
Holy shite all this right here. People these days refuse to admit how radically the game has changed since Montana played.

Look at his numbers and accomplishments, then put them next to Manning's
Dude, are you 13? Have you not seen how much the game and rules have changed over the past 20 years? Just compare the Top 10 statistical passers from the 1988 Season vs. 2008 Season.
Even still, I'll put up their numbers.
PLAYOFFS (when it matters most to be the best):
Montana: 23 Games - 45 TDs - 21 INTs - 95.6 RTG
Manning: 20 Games - 32 TDs - 21 INTs - 88.4 RTG

I suppose it's impossible to imagine someone with Peyton's talent succeeding in the old days? That's the problem with you old timer arguments. Yall always say that so and so would dominate with today's rules, but why isn't the reverse true as well?

Mannings incredible..but as some point you have to consider his playoff performance. It just hasn't matched his regular season brilliance. Superbowls shouldnt be the determining factor of a quarterback's worth, but the disparity between Mannings regular season and postseason are undeniable
Motherfricking this.

Agreed. He's an outstanding quarterback, but it's pretty clear that he's not at his best when it counts.

I think you misspelled Joe Montana.
