1995 Nebraska had/faced 2 players who would be drafted in the first round the following spring. 2019 LSU had/faced 18 players who would do the same.
95 Nebraska is the best and most dominant team ever

Well, gee, most of the real asskickers in college football end up in the first round of the draft. Stands to reason that the more of them you face the more likely it is you will get pushed or beaten.
Nebraska faced one player who was a first round draft pick in the spring. And he was a bust to boot.
2019 LSU faced firepower like Tua, Jalen Hurts, Trevor Lawrence, DeVonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle, CeeDee Lamb, Tee Higgins, Travis Etienne, Najee Harris, and many others.
1995 Nebraska didn’t face players like that.

The best thing 1995 Nebraska had going for them was they didn’t have to play Switzer’s OU, FSU, or Miami - elite teams that recruited to beat them (and could stop their running game) because they played them virtually every year for the Big 8 title or Orange Bowl.
Osborne was 5-12 against Switzer from 1973-1988 and 3-9 against FSU and Miami from 1980-1994. That is 8-21 altogether. Many of those teams had legendary players on the defensive front that Nebraska couldn’t push around.
Osborne was 71-3-1 against “top ten” Kansas, Kansas State, and Colorado. And even the coach who was responsible for those three losses (Bill McCartney) was gone in 1995. And with no OOC opponent with more than six wins (including one that folded the program after the season) and a bowl opponent that didn’t care about the running game (much less run defense) the schedule couldn’t have been more favorable.
Nebraska had a lot of great players in the ‘70s and ‘80s just like they did in the ‘90s. Heisman winners, Super Bowl winners, and guys with national awards named after them. Very few players from 1995 would be on the All-Osborne team.
Nebraska beating mediocre Big 8 opponents by 50 was nothing new in the mid ‘90s. The biggest difference was they did not face a defense with an elite front that was recruited to stop them. They faced that at least once a year back in the ‘70s and ‘80s.

LMAO same garbage arguments
KSU played Nebraska every year, recruited to stop Nebraska's run game, had the #1 defense in the nation with 3 All Americans. Guess what? Frazier had 4 passing tds Nebraska also scored on Special Teams and Defense and blew KSU out
By your logic I guess I should be touting Nebraska's 40 point win @ Michigan St since Michigan St had a NFL QB Tony Banks + 2 future pro bowl WRs Mushin Muhammad and Derrick Mason... coached by Nick Saban no less hahaha

The key word there being KSU.
Anyone like the Selmon bros., Tony Casillas, Brian Bosworth, Cortez Kennedy, Derrick Brooks, Ray Lewis, and Warren Sapp on those defenses?
That would be no.
Or anyone like Vince Wilfork, Jonathan Vilma, D.J. Williams, and Ed Reed like 2001 Nebraska faced?
That would be no too.
Osborne was 25-0 against KSU in his career.

None of those players were as good as the ones mentioned in my previous post.

Overall better talent =/= the best team. This shouldn't be a difficult concept to understand considering how many times throughout history we have seen teams with lesser talent in college football defeat stacked rosters. The 2010 Auburn Tigers were hardly a talented team. Sure, they had Cam Newton at QB, but the vast majority of that roster didn't go onto do Jack Squat at the next level. Yet they went 14-0 against a very tough schedule and won the national championship. Why? Because they were a GREAT TEAM. Not the most talented, just a great one.
Meanwhile, that same season, you had the Alabama Crimson Tide - coached by Nick Saban and defending national champions - absolutely stacked with 12 future NFL first rounders on the two-deep roster (including two potential future Pro Football Hall of Famers) finish with three losses on their schedule.

LSU fans love romanticizing Burrow and Chase, but when you bring up the 2019 LSU defense it's crickets.
LSU only beat Auburn 23-20, not very GOATy if you ask me.
Minnesota beat Auburn by 7 and scored 31 on Auburn.
But the alleged GOAT LSU only scored 23 and won by 3.
Their D yielded over 22 points a game.
LSU D gave up 37 or more 4 times that year.
LSU only beat Texas by 7, Auburn by 3, Alabama by 4.
Frigging Vanderbilt scored 38 on 2019 LSU.
2019 LSU was far from dominant because of their garbage D.
Meanwhile 2025 Ohio State is yielding 7 points a game.
The most points allowed is 16.
They probably have the greatest defense in college football history.
And their offense averages over 37 a game.
And their offense has played conservative because they don't need to open it up due to their dominant D.
2019 LSU would struggle to score on 2025 Ohio State.
2025 Ohio State would score at will on that horrible 2019 LSU D.
The 2019 LSU offense isn't that much better than 2025 Ohio State's offense.
But the 2025 Ohio State defense is light years better than 2019 LSU's defense.

And “top ten” talent isn’t equal either.
Would anyone take 1995 Kansas, Kansas State, Colorado and Florida over 2019 Bama, Oklahoma, Georgia, and Clemson?
Hell no.
1995 Nebraska greatly benefited from having the teams and coaches that gave them problems for many years out of the way.
It’s like Roger Federer winning the 2009 French Open (his only win at Roland Garros) after getting smoked by Rafael Nadal the previous three years. His level of play that year wasn’t necessarily any higher than the previous years. He just didn’t have to face a top form Nadal and his troublesome topspin in the finals again. Similarly, 1995 Nebraska didn’t face a run defense loaded with future NFL stars like previous teams did.

They had arguably the best player in the history of the sport (for one year) that carried them.

It has to be extremely boring as an OSU fan. They've played one ranked team all year, Texas.

It's a shame that Penn St. imploded for sure.
Ohio St. has made a concerted effort to minimize the number of plays for both sides of the ball due to the hopefully long season.
Injuries have been minimal untill our top two WRs have gotten banged up.
We'll see if the strategy pays off long term.

But it has to be boring watching this for weeks. No drama, no uncertainty, really.

I'd rather they not struggle against worse teams.
Watching 2002 Ohio State was "boring" in the sense that our offense was vanilla AF but we played tons of close games making it exciting.
Playing Rutgers close so far today

2025 LSU legitimately might be undefeated against OSUs schedule. Would probably be favored in every game except Texas.
It’s an absurdly easy schedule. The middle and bottom of the big 10 are absolute dog shite and they dodged Oregon and Indiana

Ohio St is designed to play this way, at least for now.
Just strangle the opposing offense, minimize total plays, and run an efficient offense.
The defense is the surprise this year allowing Ohio State to play this way.

28-3 is a tight game ?
Not to mention that they are playing without Smith and Tate.
And the 3rd WR left game with injury.

Ohio State season ticket holders get like one good game a year.
